Knicks Players Have Picture of Championship Trophy Over Each Locker

Time and again this season, we’ve seen members of the New York Knicks’ organization (and some notable outsiders) proclaim that the team has a chance to win it all. And now, each player’s locker has been re-decorated with an image of the ultimate prize. From the NY Post: “Over every Knicks player’s locker at Madison Square Garden, there is now a picture of an NBA championship trophy. The new décor was added prior to halftime of last night’s 101-79 rout over the Pistons. ‘I think we just want to get our focus back,’ Tyson Chandler said. ‘I think there’s been talk around the staff and amongst us that we’ve got to know what we’re fighting for.’ It was not known who put the photos up, although Knicks manager of player security Max Cayard was involved. ‘He told me to bring my ring out today,’ Chandler said, referring to his championship ring from last season’s title run with the Mavericks, ‘and I’m guessing he talked to somebody and put the trophies up.’ Carmelo Anthony likes the photo additions. ‘They’re inspiring,’ he said. ‘It’s motivating just to see that. It gives us something to look up to, look forward to and we know where we want to be at. A lot of work that we want to do to get there.’”

    I like their positive attitude… But ain’t happening…

  • RunNGun

LMAO @TOMTOM The picture of the Larry O’Brien Trophy serves as demotivating poster(s) in the Knicks locker room; they know they won’t win one in the next 50-100 years.

Miami and Chicago should be nervous

@Powerwitdapen I’m a Knicks fan, but I hope you’re joking. The Knicks are’nt even close I hate to say it.

The sender of those pictures happens to be a certain anonymous Orange/Knicks fan.

If the Knicks make strong run in the playoffs because they are now “motivated,” they can come back next year and seriously contend. Why not? They have one of the best front lines in the L, Lin will come into the season as the starting PG. All they need is some veteran three point shooters and a big backups and they are as good on paper as Chicago and Miami.

It would be more appropriate and realistic if they had pictures of ‘ball movement’, ‘defense’, and a bracket with them listed as the #6 seed above their lockers.

LOL! the knicks best chance out of first round is playing the magic,76ers,
hawks or pacers. otherwise they can shelve those trophy until next season.

motivation is a good thing. But the day you guys will defend in your sleep like Miami and Chicago yu might have a shot

It figure the d-bags over at the NY rags would report this as if it was a bad thing. GO KNICKS

This is the closest they will get to anything championship related.

  • GC6

This is what going to get the Knicks a ring and it took them so many years to figure it out, if you want to win a championship just put the picture in your locker or in Jason Terry’s case tattoo it.

  • Mooney10

They actually need a damn picture of it on their locker to keep them focused on winning games!!? Get real! This is rediculous, like they forgot what they were playing for, forgot what the trophy looked like? How bout when you get on the floor at MSG look at the damn rafters, this is totally immature, i remeber a coach doing this in HS, didnt change anything, you go out to win, nothing else period.

  • MikeC.

@Mooney – it’s a long season and after awhile, the same old “rah rah” doesn’t work as well. Chandler knows what it takes to win. I’ll give a champion the benefit of the doubt.

Good thing they don’t have a picture of their contracts. You know, because those overpaid players have no reason to play hard and all.
