Report: Lamar Odom Had Angry Exchange With Mark Cuban Before Leaving Mavs

The second dustup of the season between Lamar Odom and Mark Cuban, reportedly, was the straw that broke the camel’s back. So says ESPN: “At halftime of his final game with the Dallas Mavericks Saturday night, Lamar Odom had an angry exchange with Mavericks owner Mark Cuban in the visitors’ locker room in Memphis, according to sources familiar with the discussion. Sources said that the heated words were ‘the culmination’ of an exasperating weekend. That convinced team officials to initiate discussions on Easter that led to the parties agreeing split for the rest of the season. According to sources, the crux of the heated halftime confrontation was Cuban asking Odom if he was ‘in or out.’ Sources said Odom, who had played only four minutes in the first half, reacted angrily to the question and did not take his seat on the bench until after the third quarter began. This was not the first time that Cuban had confronted Odom during a game. During a March 6 win over the New York Knicks, Cuban shouted at Odom from the owner’s seat near the Mavs bench after the forward’s failure to hustle back on defense resulted in an uncontested layup for New York’s Landry Fields. Cuban and Odom both downplayed that incident, with Cuban pointing out that he’s a passionate fan who frequently yells at players.”

Can’t believe I’m saying it, but I side with Cubes.

  • MUBWAR

let’s rephrase that Mark: im not gonna pay 9m to a washed up 32 years old who won’t hustle for the team

Dwight Howard’s diva-tude and Lamar’s dismantling have completely erased my memories of Lebron’s Decision and the Summer Lockout. What a wacky-ass season

@kemp. Yet you somehow remember something that has been erased from memory? Amazing. Yes Dwight has turned into a spoiled child. Or he’s always been one and now it’s just finally showing.

Lamar’s attitude and production are indefensible but Cubes needs to fall all the way back. Until he gives himself the coaching gig he should leave the motivational stuff to Carlisle

Mark Cubans’ team won a championship in 2011 b/c he had a mixture of vets on his team along with young players who played hard for their coach…it had nothing to do with the owners behavior with his players. Winning creates ego and it looks like Mark Cubans’ ego has gotten Texas size big. The only thing I like about the Dallas is the football team and Dirk of course. You can’t handle everyone the same but I guess when you’re the owner, you can do whatever you want. Pay close attention next season when Odom plays the Mavs. He didn’t like them before getting swept by them last season, he didn’t like them once he got traded to them and I’m pretty sure he doesn’t like them now.

    T-Money, Why?

  • kablamo

Nxt to jr smith lamar odom is the worse professional in the nba

Straight up Lamar Odom is a talent. Everyone forgets how productive he was with LA because he got overshadowed by other players. The fact that this couldn’t work out makes me believe he wasn’t used properly by the coach rather than him having lost it. I’ve seen a few Mavs games this year and his minutes are so inconsistent. Somebody will reply and say his minutes are inconsistent because he plays poorly but it’s a chicken egg scenario, are his minutes inconsistent because he plays poorly or does he play poorly because his minutes are inconsistent? I think he’s still got it and will prove that to everybody next year when he signs with the Clippers.

    T money wtf is indefensible?

  • http://www.google.com/news BETCATS

Shem his minutes were inconsistent because he did everything he could to get a seat on the bench, then did not work hard to get back on the court. He even went on a personal hiatus for a bit. He still is appearing on tv. I think he needs to get his head straight.

Hopefully the next CBA will include a ban on starring on an in-season reality show.

    Odom.
    smh

  • barnabusb

Do people forget that Odom spent the first half of his career being labeled as an underachiever who didn’t care about the game? It wasn’t until he hooked up with an already-stacked Lakers team that people forgot about the fact that he should have been better than he was because they were winning rings. I hope he gets it together because he can still contribute to a team, but this is a pretty sketchy scenario.

it’s not about the money money money we don’t want your money
money money, we just want to make the world sing forget about the price ta….. 9 million for this guy???….
    send him on!

  • Otis

Weird to say this but I’m also siding with Cuban. If you’re the one who’s paying a guy millions of dollars a year, you have every right to question his effort, or lack thereof

  • bdogg

i like odom and am a die hard laker fan and i feel bad for his off court problems but that does not excuse his unprofessionalism. he is getting 8.9mil. cubs gave him time off. he want to dallas not charlotte. damn! as SVP said today..do he want to ball or be a reality star. i wanted both shows. i hate kris humphy but in the lockout he worked out and shoot to be in shape just in case there would be a season. lamar hung out with robbie playing video games, running all over town with khloe promoting the brand and messing around with his fat lazy friend that makes turtle look like a real worker…SMH…good luck next year i guess..very disappointed

  • http://Juanm.garcia@comcast.net KingsWithRings

Kobe said it best. The Mavs do not know how to exploit Lamar’s talent.

  • Dungeon Family

Who has more Testosterone……..Khloe or Bosh?

  • the doon

@KingsWithRings yeah of corse its the Mavs fault..

  • Y.C.Chen

i think his numbers were more inconsistent than his minutes. just go look at his profile page in march… he is basically playing about 18 min to 20+ minutes…. so please don’t blame those minutes!

  • Y.C.Chen

it’s really the Mavs’ fault…. for acquiring Odom…… SMH.

  • vtrobot

Ha ha. Dungeon Family murdering Khole all over these boards. Ha ha ha. Hilarious.

  • don th

if i get paid 9million to play, the boss can prod me all he wants about it, as long as he doesn’t question my manhood, race or ethics.

  • ka$h

So Cubes is right, or justified, in yelling @ Odom from his seats??? So I guess D Sterling was justified in yelling @ Baron from the bench as well… perception’s a funny beast…

  • barnabusb

@ka$h: There are these things called “variables”, which make situations that might seem similar not be similar at all once you know the details.
