Report: Lamar Odom Not Being Considered for Olympic Team Anymore

According to Fox Sports, the folks at USA Basketball are no longer interested in having Lamar Odom on the Olympic team they’re sending to London this summer: “[USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo] said he will have a meeting May 1 in Las Vegas with Team USA Coach Mike Krzyzewski and assistants Nate McMillan, Mike D’Antoni and Jim Boeheim. It’s there that discussions will begin in earnest on which 12 players for the final roster will be selected from the group of 20 finalists that was announced in January, and which already has been pared down. Clippers guard Chauncey Billups is out of the mix due to a season-ending torn Achilles. And a source said that forward Lamar Odom, who had a poor season and has been made inactive by Dallas for the rest of the season due to squabbles with the team, has been eliminated from Olympic consideration.”

LO made his bed, now he has to sleep with the reality camera. LO can come back to LA.

    Dude Might Start Crying….

The US could field the 12 worst NBA players and still win. The only thing that hurts the US team is when they have the wrong mix of players and aren’t willing to go HAM. Teams like Serbia/Spain/Lithuania will not shy away from contact so hopefully the US put their bodies on the line and set the tone.

  • Selwyn ( UK )

No need for the word “anymore” in the title

  • John C

@samoan you’re wrong, unfortunately. the US would not win gold by fielding the 12 worst players in the NBA. the talent-level around the world is too good for that to happen.

  • the doon

@samoaninlondon wtf are you talking about? you dont know nothing about european basketball, dont you. even with the 12 best nba players its not going to be easy for the US

@samoan…this is not the 90′s anymore

…so now he’s going to join the Spanish team, sulk on the bench and eventually get sent home again.

  • IAMORANGE4EVER

Lamar is lucky to have such a strong successful woman behind him, who will support him through these trying times he’s going through.

  • Waggle

    Lol @ M Cho hahaha

  • FnF

Does anyone else get the feeling his life is being scripted for the sole purpose of reality TV? Coming up next, LO is broke, out of the league, divorced, looking for love, gets a stern talking to by a D-league janitor that looks A LOT like Morgan Freeman, wins the 6th man of the year, gets injured in the playoffs but comes back for an epic performance… roll credits.

When Lamar heard this he so devastated he holed up in a hotel room with his favortie Laker girl blow up doll.

Lol @FnF with the Morgan Freeman reference.

  • Mike Mihalow

He wasn’t good enough for the Olympic roster before he came to Dallas.

  • Da-Meat-Hook

Maybe he can join his wife Chloe, who’s currently the starting center for the “Monstars” from Space Jam . . .

    ^^ lmaoooooooo

  • Bawse

I am sure Lamar is choked up about not getting picked to the Olympics. His two rings will have to be enough instead of that much needed gold medal that we only REMEMBER once every four years.

  • AsadSaleh3

He wouldn’t have made the team over the other forwards regardless of this situation he’s put himself in. LeBron, Durant, Melo, Rudy Gay, Iguodala, Aldridge (if he’s healthy enough), Griffin, etc. No way Odom would beat any of those guys out.

  • robb

    Snub!!!

  • Da-Meat-Hook

Bawse, LO caught feelings over a trade that didn’t happen. Then demanded a trade and got choked up over playing for the defending champs. What makes you think he won’t find reason to wallow in his own self-pity here? 2 rings or not, Dude’s a volatile mess right now.

FnF FTW. Tim Robbins needs to be the janitor in the D-League.

  • Fat Lever

Fnf, is this the same janitor that convinced Will to stay in school on that episode of The Fresh Prince?

  • MikeC.

    Christopher Walken as the janitor.

  • MikeC.

    Or Brian Cardinal.
