Dallas Mavericks Players Voted Not to Give Lamar Odom a Playoff Share

If there was any doubt about how Lamar Odom’s former teammates feel about his time as a Maverick, this story should end it pretty quickly. Per the Star Telegram: “If Lamar Odom made any extra cash this season, it would have been with the reality TV show he did with his wife and not because of anything he did with the Dallas Mavericks. That’s because the Mavs players voted Sunday not to give Odom a share of the playoff money they earned this season. Instead, the Mavs decided to split their pool of money for finishing with the seventh-best record in the Western Conference and making the playoffs with the remaining 14 players on their roster. With the total pot being $281,937, that means each player will receive $20,138.32. [...] In 50 games for the Mavs, Odom averaged career lows of 6.6 points and 4.2 rebounds, and shot a career-low 35.2 percent from the field in a career-low 20.5 minutes per game. Then, on Apr. 9 the Mavs parted ways with Odom and placed him on the inactive list for the rest of the season. ‘If the Lamar thing would have worked out and if he would have played like the year before when he was the best sixth man, I think we would have had a shot,’ forward Dirk Nowitzki, reffering to the Mavs’ chances of advancing in the playoffs. ‘It would have given us another playmaker, another guy that’s long, that can defend and rebound. But for whatever reason the stuff he was going through off the court was just too much. He couldn’t help us the way he wanted, the way we wanted, and we had to move on without him.’”

Because he did so much to deserve it. LOL

It’s only 4 playoff games’ worth of $ though.
Besides, he makes way more on his “reality” show.

Amount is chump change to Odom, but as the article stated, this makes it obvious that the chemistry in the locker room was affected by Mr. Morose.
Takes quite the quitter for your teammates to vote you out of any bonuses earned, wow.
Oh and he needs to grow a pair, never liked the guy (Clippers time was a red light) and now i hope he gets back on his feet…..only to be traded to a bad team.

wonder if they will do the same vote on Brendan Haywood cuz he didnt show up at all in that sweep!!!

  • da real

Odom is a sucker. A recap of his career is destined for ESPN 30 for 30. when he quit he became a true Kardashian – getting paid big bucks to sit home and do nothing. We are all ashamed that he is from NY

Haywood never showed up for the season.

What irks me most is Carlisle’s reliance of using aging stars for long stretches of the season.
Wright, the most athletic player and best rim protector for the Mavs hardly saw any playing time against OKC. Same goes for Roddy (yet again, starting to think it’s personal at this point) but Vince and Kidd played 30+ mins a game, got exposed on D and couldn’t shoot good percentages from the field. Kidd made shots in Games 3 & 4 but too little, too late.
They really couldn’t use Wright in stretches against KD, so Marion could try and limit Harden’s drives to the hoop and give them one more athletic leaper for blocks and boards? Jesus.
Dirk was shaky late in some of the games, turnovers, missing shots he usually makes but hey, colour me not surprised when he’s using up more energy than usual on D against a leaper like Ibaka AND being the bailout option every broken play.
Odom was a dud, but Mavs displayed other elements that kept them from getting wins this entire season, amongst them an unwillingness to trust their younger players.
Bit them right in the butt.

An extra 20K for making the playoffs? Fun fact.

Lamar got other things to worry about than a playoff share.
He still tryna figure out how Him and his Wife wear the same size shoe.
Khloe look like Hacksaw Jim Duggan in face

The whole team should give back their share after the way OKC did it on em!!!!

Why is this a story, he didn’t play.

  • robb

    Can you blame them?

  • MikeC.

@Dark – Haywood hasn’t really shown up to play for UNC yet. I’m not surpised he didn’t show up for the Mavs season. He gets paid because he’s 7 feet tall and can jog.

If you watch carefully the way that Lamar Odom walks and talks you would note that he is a very lazy person. He doesn’t even deserve too play in the NBA. That said, the owner of the mavericks is prejudice for calling out Odom that way he did in the locker room.

Poor Lamar. No real story here. Hope he don’t end up like Shuttleworth’s dad.

  • Y.C.Chen

LOL. dallas is really sad. if the mavs didn’t lose that bad, i think they would still be kind. now that they are ugly and nasty!

  • irondan21

Good, this means more money in delonte’s “I’m going to get fined for doing stupid sh_t” account.
