Dwyane Wade Unhappy With Indiana’s ‘Little Celebration’ After Game 2

by Marcel Mutoni @marcel_mutoni

The old NBA Playoffs cliché is that it’s not a series until the home team loses a game.

And if that’s true at all, then the Indiana Pacers/Miami Heat battle is now a series in every sense of the word, and on top of that, there’s a bit of bad blood between the two squads.

The Pacers escaped Miami with a split, evening things up with a gutty win last night. Dwyane Wade did not enjoy watching them celebrate on his court.

From Fox Sports:

“I heard they wanted to be like the Dallas Mavericks, in a sense,” Wade said. “I saw their little celebration at the end of (Game 2). I don’t know if they didn’t expect to win, but every night we go out on the court, we expect to win.” [...] “They say their identity, they say they want to be like Dallas,” Wade said. “So they celebrated like Dallas, I guess.”

Told what Wade said, Pacers guard Paul George said he didn’t see anything wrong with what his team did after the game. “If that’s what he wants to fuel this loss, they should come out just the fact that we came here and took a win from them,” George said. “But we won this like we weren’t surprised. We won it, and went right to the locker room.” [...] “I think it’s an excuse,” George said. “We won this game fair and square. We walked off and went to the locker room and now we’re ready to get out of here. … It’s the same way when they won (Game 1). They celebrated, so we just did the same thing.”

Veteran forward David West must have sensed something when he did his best to get his young teammates off the floor following the win, and quickly into their locker room.

Putting aside the delicious irony of a Miami Heat player getting upset about anyone else prematurely celebrating, Dwyane Wade and company have their hands full against the hungry and dangerous Pacers, and they shouldn’t need any additional motivation.

  • Well DAMN

Dwade is a queen. I’m unhappy with his big celebration before last season.

  • Honduran

You can tell that the Pacers are hungry.

  • http://ds add comment?

    NO… WAY… LEBRON!

  • crooklyn

Guess he forgot about holding up his follow thru a little too long for the mavs liking in last years finals right before everything fell apart far them. BTW did anyone notice the flops of chalmers and wade on those last two possesions, and the NBA got the nerve to fine coach Vogel for his statements SMH

  • http://www.slamonline.com Jahmai

Dwade & Drose both Chicago born NBA superstars both complaining about the Pacers celebrating on their home floor.

  • bull22

@honduran, yeah very true statement. but here is the problem, if this was a clinching game for the pacers then do what you want. but for the pacers to be celebrating like the series is over and george saying we should be up 2-0
is going to give the heat unneeded motivation to amp up their game. being a bulls fan i can’t stand the heat but i remember when boozer called out bosh last year and chris bosh destroyed him the rest of the series or in finals when wade and james made fun of dirk and ended the season without a championship. pacers got no choice now to deliver or look stupid like they did last season when they said we shoulda, coulda. no one remembers losers.

  • Otero

F#ck wade. That idiot celebrates after every play. if he’s not talking to the refs, he’s mean mugging or flying around with his arms out. B#tch a$$ can dish it but he can’t take it. no championship for Miami again

  • bull22

would love to see the pacers pull off a big upset but its a seven game series.

  • http://www.twitter.com/_dfrance dfrance21

All I know is DWade is a chump and should have been ejected for a flagrant 2 for that sucker move he pulled on Collison.

  • vtrobot

    Well DAMN said it all.

  • ron

no, Dwade says no celebration after any win. No.. bad Pacers bad Pacers!

  • MikeC.

Props to D West for trying to get his team to act like they were supposed to win. I like when teams win a big game, give a little fist pump or some high fives, and just walk off the floor. After winning the last game of the season, go nuts. Also, why are teams dropping streamers from the ceiling after regular season wins? That irks me.

  • Zack

Bron blew this game -___- missing free throws like a hack.

  • Toronto

@dfrance21 – Totally agree with you. I use to have so much respect for Dwade but man that was pretty ugly and childish. Then he gives the face like “What, I didnt do anything” Splitting home and home not good. OKC will throttle Miami if they meet in the final. That is a big if

  • D-Funk

hope tha Pacers pull it OFF…fucc Mr. Gabrielle Union

  • Charles

Remember last season when they beat the Celtics. Him and LBJ running around the court like they won the finals. That got them pretty far…

  • Scott

Since he’s gonna complain, the Heat better make them pay next game. Otherwise he’ll just look like a whiny lil beyotch.

  • http://slamonline.com samoaninlondon

    LEBRON travelled.

  • riggs

because dwyane wade NEVER celebrated prematurely…

  • Fresh Boirdee

I used to really like Wade, but he’s just getting a little bit douchey. He’s always complaining, arguing, or cutting his eyes at the refs, laying on the floor trying to get a call (tends to be a trending habit in the league now), but damn. It’s like ever since Bron got there, they have some type of entitlement or something. It’s pathetic.

  • Dirtybird

Looks like he wants to throw down in the pic to the right, lol

  • BRAVO

    Indiana gonna win series….book it

  • http://nba.com/celtics lights out

every time someone defends him well and he misses, he whines that he got fouled. he fouls Collison on a fast break like he’s making a block in football, and then tries to confront Collison after. and then, when the Pacers beat them, he whines that they celebrated. tell me how this guy could be more of an a–hole.

  • http://www.fullc0urtpress.com KHOLIDAY

The Heat may very well lose this series!

  • Bola

Frank Vogel was right look at how Wade and Chalmers flopped on that last possession. Dude said the truth. And people are hating him for saying what his obvious. I remember watching a video on youtube, Wade was playing with kids and when he got the ball in the paint he would yell ahhhh. I mean, is that how bad his flopping his it’s already in his blood. Flopping in a pick up game on the streets, common bro. Play the game with your skill set

  • Omar

Him and LeBron should go back to sparring.

  • http://www.slamonline.com spit hot fiyah

here is an idea, win the game and they wont celebrate. if a team win who cares what they do. and co-sign those who mentioned premature heat celebrations

  • ClydeSays

I don’t think you would have seen the Pacers celebrating if Wade hadn’t complained about a non-call, then hacked Collison earlier in frustration in the 4th. Sorry Wade, that’s on you.

  • Fat Lever

Who’s the bigger diva in the relationship, Wade or Gabrielle? He needs to stop worrying about celebrations and start making layups with the game on the line.

  • RunNGun

DWAD3 should be one to talk.

  • Brian

I said it last year during the playoffs and I’ll say it again, I’d root for the Taliban if they were playing against this clown.

  • Byebye

Spo is dumb do he call any plays that can get the non stars any shots in their comfort zone does he call any plays at all what is he doing labron an d wade can’t do everything and play all the minutes he put labron on west too early and he was tired he got his shot blocked twice cuz he had no legs and people quit acting like labron is a robot and he can’t get tired they should have gotten rid of mike miller

  • Fat Lever

I heard a stat this morning that says Wade is 4-13 in games with(I think) less than 24 seconds and a basket would tie the game or put the Heat up 1. Not sure how far back that stat goes, but for all the heat(no pun intended) that Lebron gets, Wade has quietly been sh!tting the bed in “clutch” situations.

  • http://thatdavidhopkins.com David Hopkins

“So they celebrated like Dallas, I guess.” You mean, when Dallas won the championship last year… and you didn’t? I celebrated a bit too.

  • tomtom

    Dwayne, your vagina is showing.

  • CubicleWorker

So basically he’s pissed about the same stuff him and James were doing DURING the Mavericks/Heat finals games last year?

I wonder how he’d feel if a couple indiana players walked through the halls pretending they had sore abs lol

  • LA Huey

Pacers have been posturing like they’re expecting to win this series and not just happy to make it to the second round. But David West was the only one that appeared he felt like all they did was take care of business. The others were elated to get this win.

  • Tommy

So if the Pacers feel like the Mavs last year, celebrate like the Mavs last year, they might as well beat the Heat like the Mavs last year?!

  • http://www.espn.com paulh

That Is so rich I almost threw up over my computer. As a person with out any real team affiliation I try and stay pretty impartial but the Heat just make It to difficult. I did not see ANYTHING excessive or noteworthy about the Pacers “Celebration” last night. Do me, yourself and the basketball world a big, big favour Dwayne and shut the fu*k up and play. I can’t wait till the Heat get tossed from the playoffs. That’s It. I hate them. I’m a “hater” now. Just have to find a way to move on with my life I suppose.

  • furiousfunkfanatic

Pacers are going to win this series!

  • http://Somethingsomething. Ugh

    Diddums.

  • http://slam FLIGHT 9

Shut up wade. Pacers are for real and you know that everybody knew how stupid your team is for underestimatING a team that is pretty deep with 8 OR 9 solid playasssssss… HIBBERT, WEST, GRANGER, GEORGE, PSYCHO T, COLLISON, BARBOSA, HILL…. I HOPE BOSH RETURNS SO THERE WILL BE NO EXCUSES!!!!!

  • http://slamonline.com Jones

The Heat are probably going to win this series, but it would be unspeakably awesome if the Pacers upset these fakers. Karma, that’s for sure. Lebron choking was karma for all those flops they do on a nightly basis.

  • IamYOU

I’m a heat fan but c’mon wade if they want to celebrate a win let them it’s just game 2. In the other hand paul george still thinks he shoudve won the dunk contest..

  • Ldub

Dont understand all the hate towards Wade. Would anyone on here like to see another team celebrate on their floor? Sh*t, for that matter…a team beat you period? If you dont have any competitive juices in you, then you wouldnt care. No one likes to lose, especially at home. Name one person that would like to see another team celebrate after a loss. And of course its going to be ok for you to celebrate, because you won! Stop trying to find little sh*t to pick apart. Depending on the scenario, Im celebrating in victory and Im upset in defeat. POINT,BLANK,PERIOD! Move on! Motivation to do better!

  • http://www.yahoo.com The Fury

It will be really interesting if the Sixers and Pacers meet in the ECF…if that happens they should wear their ABA jerseys!!..oh wait was there any Philadelphia teams during the ABA years??..lol

  • wishuwould247

Dwade being mad is like the Hulk being mad. All this ” I’m going let lebron shine” crap. Dwade is a pure warrior who only cares about victory, him and UD (Udonis Haslem) are the heart and soul of the Miami Heat, not lebron. When the time is right, he will come out locked and loaded, do or die. Watch game 3!

  • http://slamonline Brion

If your the MVP you must demand the ball more in the 4th period.

  • http://juan.garcia@computershare.com PutUrMomma2Wrk

You guys just don’t get it! He’s obviously just trying to take focus away from his missed lay up. A choke job some would call it so he does the smart thing and takes you away from the issue at hand. That Miami has no closers.

  • Shecky Shabazz

The Heat won the championship last year, right? At least that’s what I thought after I saw them celebrate like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rxU9s2TqDc
