Rajon Rondo Aims to Continue Being the ‘Best Point Guard in the NBA’


Rajon Rondo was quite feisty and combative when facing the media yesterday, upon his return from a one-game suspension for making contact with a referee. In addition to declaring that he feels as though Boston has basically already beaten the Hawks in their first round Playoff series, Rondo also let everyone know that he believes he’s the League’s best point guard. Per the Boston Herald: “Even when told Rivers expected him to come out hard in Game 3 and he was asked about having something to prove, Rondo played verbal defense. ‘I don’t have anything to prove,’ he said. ‘Why would I have anything to prove? I just want to win. That’s it. I’m confused about why you guys would think I have anything to prove. I mean, it’s a game I’ve been playing my entire life. The world knows what I can do. Like I said, the world knows what I can do. I’ll continue to go out there and play and do what I do best and be the best point guard in the NBA.’”

    I believe Rondo was the only player in the nba with multiple triple doubles this year, so he carries some weight in this conversation. His lack of a shooting touch has created one of the more quicker one of a kind poit guards of all time. If you can’t recognize and admire his swagga he ain’t sweating it

    z, my guess would be that the media likes white people more than black people. Stockton was white. Rondo is black.

    I like rondo. but he isn’t the best pure point. Lebron has had triple doubles this year. I think wall has 2 but that might’ve been last year so idk. and lakeshow for some reason I think that’s sarcasm lmao

    I’m pretty sure rondo has the most triple doubles this season. I actually think only him and lebron are the closest at ever achieving the holy grail of averaging a triple double over a season. Also don’t expect rondo to get better at shooting. His 7 ft Somethig wingspan and hands bigger then lebrons will always give him trouble while shooting. He just has a unproportionate body.

    RIGGS: Kidd in his prime was five times the scorer Rondo is and his court vision was simply on another level. Come on. You can’t compare the two. Best “pure” point doesn’t mean best passer who can’t shoot. Paul and Nash, for example, are clearly better “pure,” pass-first points while being better scorers, and not surprisingly they generate more wins for their teams than Rondo does.

    BTW, someone who’s averaged less than 5 boards for the last 3 years is not a “walking triple double.” What does that make Lebron? Or Kidd, who twice averaged more than 8 rebounds? What did that make Magic?

    rose shouldnt be in this convo anyway. he never was, never will be the best point guard. when he got elected as the mvp the nba just needed a new darling. he is a very good player tho. in terms of the requierements of the position thats only a discussion between paul, williams and maybe parker. after that come rondo westbrook rose and nash. if lin learns to dribble low and gain stamina during the summer he might join the debate too

    Rondo is simply the best purest point guard in the league. He is often misjudge because of his temperment rather than his talent. If Rondo had a sunnier personality or showed humility he would be better liked. Rondo appears to have a healthy suspicion of the media and seems wary when responding to their often demeaning questions. I suspect because Rondo believes he is the best he is judged both arrogant and wrong. Numbers do not lie though check out his stats for the year.

    I truly believe with this 20 pt and 16 assists performance today that Rondo is the best point guard int the NBA.

    16 assists has been done only 8 times in Celtic history.

    Rajon Rondo has done it 7 out of the 8 times.

    About a year ago someone in NBA management proposed a CP3-Rondo trade straight up. It was then shot down by every-other media outlet and NBA ‘expert’ across the nation as a preposterous idea. Every other except Boston of course.
