Udonis Haslem Suspended for Game 6; Dexter Pittmann Gets 3 Games

Danny Granger’s wish came true, as the Miami Heat will not be able to employ the services of one Udonis Haslem tonight in Game 6. As for Dexter Pittman and his elbow, he’ll be out of action for a little while longer. Per the NBA’s press release: “Miami Heat center Dexter Pittman has been suspended three games without pay for striking the neck and shoulders of Indiana guard Lance Stephenson, and Miami forward Udonis Haslem has been suspended one game without pay for striking the head and shoulders of Indiana’s Tyler Hansbrough, it was announced Wednesday by Stu Jackson, NBA Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations. Both Pittman and Haslem had their Flagrant Foul Ones upgraded to Flagrant Foul Twos, as did Indiana’s Hansbrough, who struck the head of Miami’s Dwyane Wade on a foul that occurred shortly before Haslem’s foul. [...] Haslem will serve his suspension on Thursday when the Pacers host the Heat in Game 6 of their Eastern Conference Semifinal series. Pittman will begin serving his suspension in Game 6.”

David West, Psycho T Hansbrough and Roy Hibbert better rise to the occasion and exploit Miami’s now non existent frontcourt

oh no pittman is out! the heat r finished. they could have suspended him for half of next season and i wouldn’t be tripping. actually props to lance for not going after him, he probably didn’t see the intent though.

Haslem suspended….really? i’ve seen worse fouls these playoffs.
Guess the NBA really wants a game 7.
Time for Lebron to copy his game 4 performance :)

I rarely say this but … Good job, NBA.

So neck and shoulders is three times worse than head and shoulders? And seven games for MWP?

Pittamn should’ve got 4 or 5. Haslem, 1 game is fair.

Wait, now I’m confused.. everyone’s Flagrants were upgraded to Flagrant-2 but Psycho T didn’t get a suspension?

Let’s keep the focus on basketball rather than combat. Love that the TNT crew was so vocal on how eff’ed up the behavior was — but I was uncomfortable with all the ‘how did you send a message?’ talk. Oh, I get it. But still — came close to condoning or even encouraging it.

Haslem is the key that may mess up game 6. Pittman doesnt even play so no big deal. But now Battier, Miller, Chalmers, Cole and Turiaf definitely need to step up. With Granger and West injured, I still like the Heat’s chances. Also it seems the uptempo game of the Heat is a bit much for Hibbert. If they can keep up that pace, it should be “nighty night, keep ya butt hole tight” for the Pacers.

As far as the fouls…I dont like them. Yes Tyler deserved the F1 and Haslem deserved the F2…but what was Pittman thinking? Just cuz someone gives an immature choke symbol, you take him out? You can feel disrespected, but some actions are uncalled for. He could have done alot more damage to Stephenson’s career. And then he winked, like yeah I meant to do it like that! Definitely not cool at all. I dont like hits like that. If we are both gonna go for the ball, then so be it. But all that extra elbow/arm aggressiveness towards someones face/head is unsafe. May the best, talented, skilled, intelligent team win. Not the team with the ability to foul the hardest. Playing hard and fouling hard is one thing…fouling hard to harm someone is another!
