Bucks to Begin Contract Extension Talks With Brandon Jennings on July 1

Milwaukee Bucks GM John Hammond says that keeping Brandon Jennings is a top priority for the team. Reports the Journal-Sentinel: “Point guard Brandon Jennings will be eligible for an extension to his contract as he enters the fourth and final year of his rookie-scale deal. [...] Hammond said the Bucks cannot begin contract discussions with Jennings’ agent, Bill Duffy, until July 1. ‘Once that date comes around, we’ll start discussions,’ Hammond said. ‘Until then, we’re not allowed to, and that’s the reason we haven’t. I think we all understand the importance of Brandon, who he is to our organization and what he has done for us.’”

Jennings deserves a contract similar to his backcourt mate. He isn’t a max player. Monta’s current contract is actually perfect for Jennings. If the Bucks are going to keep him they need to shop Monta on draft night because Jennings/Ellis isn’t going to take them anywhere.

Sign and Trade Brandon Jennings and Drew Gooden for Pau Gasol and Matt Barnes?

No Caboose! I would trade Monta and Gooden for Gasol and Jordan Hill(I don’t think Barnes would play in WI), Keep Jennings, Draft Austin Rivers, Try to pursue the younger Gasol to join, possibly land a decent role player or 2 in FA. I think Jennings should get a 5 yr/55 MIL extension which I think is more then fair. Bucks should not go more then that… Unless you think Jennings is more valuable then Rondo???
