Kevin Durant and the OKC Thunder Will ‘Fight to the End’

Facing a virtually insurmountable 3-1 deficit in the NBA Finals — no team has ever ever come back from that big a hole to win the title since the League adopted the 2-3-2 format — Kevin Durant says his OKC Thunder are not ready to throw in the towel, by any stretch of the imagination. Per the Oklahoman: “The only people who still seem to believe are, well, the Thunder. ‘We know that it’s a new day and anything can happen,’ said Kevin Durant. ‘It’s not over. You got to keep fighting and we’re going to fight to the end no matter what.’ Durant continued. ‘That’s the type of DNA we have here,’ he said. ‘That’s Oklahoma City as a city, Oklahoma as a state and the Thunder as a team. We’re going to fight to the end.’”

Oh good. Because I thought they wouldn’t even show up tonight, forfeit the game, and actually hand the Larry O’Brien trophy personally to the Heat.

    Just one game.

I would hope they wouldnt give up. It’s 3-1 but anything can happen. They ran off 4 straight against the Spurs. All they need is momemtum!

Momentum is strongly going the other way right now though. Hard to stop train that’s going full speed ahead when you’re only a few feet away from the end of the tracks. Hope they can pull it off!

I would be curious to see if the Thunder can turn this game into a street fight and gut out a win. If they can get it back to OKC, I think it’s a wrap.

look what happen to the Celtics in 09 nba final, when they had the lakers 3 to 1 lead. Lakers came back and won the series in 7 games. OKC could do the same.

great quote there, who else was expecting “we are about to roll over and call it a season”

fighting to the end does not mean squat if you can’t get a win. considering the lack of non calls for westbrook and durant has been ridiculous, but nevertheless they had a great season.

Thunder have already given up on themselves. The series is over for them.

@kid23, 09 finals? I think you’re talking about the 2010 Finals. And even then, it was 2-2 after 4 games. No team has come back from being down 3-1 since they changed the Finals format to 2-3-2.

Wow, someone here has some crazy revisionist history.
I’m assuming there’s going to be a lot of fouls, poor shooting, intense rebounding, great defense, and a Heat victory.

Someones still talking about lack of non calls? wow.

  • Orpah the Prosident

I look at it as a chance to make history.

If any team has a chance to storm all the way back it’s the Thunder. They’re the only team in this year’s playoffs that have the resolve and the heart to do it…BTW, people still talking about poor officiating are beating a dead horse. The officiating has been shaky for every series. Get over it.

  • Emmanuel

Its going to work out well… Durant, just win this game and lets take it home…. We’ve got this man… Play your heart out… Fight till the end…

  • Sam

Don’t think about winning three in a row. Think about winning one in a row.

Looking forward to a great game
