Miami Heat Top Boston Celtics in Game 7, Headed to NBA Finals

This Tuesday night. Miami Heat. Oklahoma City Thunder. You won’t want to miss this. But beforehand, do remember how the Heat got there—with an incredibly impressive victory over the feisty Boston Celtics. Here’s Yahoo! Sports on the Game 7 recap: “LeBron James finally got a Game 7 victory, on his third try. Next up, the NBA finals – and his third try at that elusive first championship. A year after watching someone else celebrate on their home floor, the Miami Heat were the ones dancing at midcourt. James had 31 points and 12 rebounds, Chris Bosh hit a career-best three 3-pointers – the last sparking the run that put it away – and the Heat won their second straight Eastern Conference title by beating the Boston Celtics 101-88 in Game 7 on Saturday night. Miami opens the title series in Oklahoma City on Tuesday night. The Heat got there by outscoring Boston 28-15 in the fourth quarter, with the ‘Big Three’ of Dwyane Wade, Bosh and James scoring every Miami point. ‘We decided to come together and play together for a reason,’ Wade said. Wade scored 23 points, Bosh finished with 19 and Shane Battier added 12 for the Heat, who won a Game 7 for the first time since 2004 – Wade’s rookie season. Now it’s back to the finals, where Miami fell in six games to Dallas a year ago.”

Are you stupid or something. That dosen’t make any sense. Dumbass

@ Da-REAL-Meat-Hook, you do realise 1 0n 1 Lebron can’t hold Durant. Dursnt will still drop 30+ on Lebron allday, errday. so to hell with Lebron’s Defence. Oh and You know what makes Durant amazing he can pretty do much everything in the clutch including clutch defence and passing.

The Celtics (and particularly KG) played above and beyond most peoples expectations. All in all it was an admirable effort to cling to their former greatness (but obviously an effort as it was clear that they are not what they once were). This was the first time Rondo was clearly the focal point of the team and it often felt like he wasn’t getting the support he needed. The Heat showed poise and character to win the series, and should’ve silenced or at least slowed a lot of their detractors (haters). That being said, Pacers and Celtic got nothing on the likes of OKC (or Spurs for that matter). I’m not sure grinding through the east has done anything to prepare the Heat for what comes next. OKC is considerably superior to Boston in every way other than the coach and the pg spot (arguably it’s even at the pg spot). If a pg not know for scoring drops 44pts on Miami, what the heck is Westbrook going to do?

I confess, I’m a reformed “Heat(Bron) Hater”. Just didn’t like the idea of a team being thrown together and automatically winning (or even thinking they could win) the holiest of basketball holies. Not without putting in the requisite blood, sweat and tears. That perceived air of entitlement and arrogance rubbed me the wrong way. It’s that very same thing that led me to being a Lebron critic (maybe hater). Additionally I felt that Lebron’s greatness was simply a product of his overwhelming physical superiority rather than hard work and a dedication to honing his craft.
But as I say, I am a REFORMED Lebron/Heat hater.
The points that once irked me have slowly eroded away. The Heat have been beaten, both on the court as well as off it. They’ve been humbled. If they were to win now, they will have earned it. Lebron seems to have grown and matured this year more than ever, both as a player and as a person. His skill set is the best it’s ever been, footwork is great, a lot less ‘Ray Charles Rhino charge’, and we’re finally seeing some (effective) post work. He plays with out the ball and is an animal on both ends of the court. Even off the court there seems to be no nonsense. No twitter, no stories about his friends, no dancing, no tom-foolery in general. He handles himself in interviews with a confidence, seriousness and poise that wasn’t there before. He’s articulate and acutely aware of the various details of the game, and all of it strikes me as being genuine. Whether talking about his game or character, he used to be the last guy I would ever recommend the kids look to as a role model. He still might not be my first choice, but he’s definitely moved up the list considerably. (“The potential role models for my unborn children list”).

I was never a hater of the Heat or LBJ (the Beast) but with the media & hype machines running 24/7 it made his short comings glaring and annoying to the casual fan. I hope all is calm and we get a 7 game series and a few instant classics. OKC is not considerably superior to The C’s and age would not have mattered. Last year RR went nuts also so this was not the 1st time he was the focal point. “Ray Charles Rhino charge” lol. Yes, less of that and the stiff arms. lol. Toss the ball up and get it on already!!!.

Heat in 6. Even though Durant is a potent scorer, how can anyone see him do LBJ dirty consistently in a 7 game series??! Its not laughable, but its just really hard to put my mind around to. LBJ is the best perimeter defender, and as long as he checks Durant, KD is not gonna just have 40 pt or even 35+ point games. On the other end of the court, can KD really guard LBJ? I see KD in foul trouble consistently if he is going to guard Lebron on the defensive end. The key for the thunder is the way Russell Westbrook plays and D Wade. I am assuming that for the most part, Westbrook will have the mismatch when Harden KD and Westbrook are in together. Either the heat will/should have Bosh guard KD (which is a mismatch) and LBJ and Wade can check the other two..or if the heat keep LBJ on KD (which I would do no matter what if i was the coach), then Wade takes Harden and Westbrook left with the mismatch to go nuts.

and another thing Chris Bosh was out for 9 games. Out of the 9 games he missed the Heat lost 4 of those games..they lost game 5 too where Chris Bosh’s minutes were limited. If anyone wants to hate on the heat then fine, but if you guys are saying that the heat were exposed or anything…then yah they were exposed to the point that they cannot go far without a scoring/defending big which is what Chris Bosh gives the Heat. With Chris Bosh in the lineup the Heat only lost 2 games in the playoffs. One of those losses in the playoffs(game 5 vs celtics) Chris Bosh played like 14 minutes. This team is COMPLETELY different when he is in the game and healthy. Any talk about how the Heat are lucky to get to this point are null and void and the troubles they showed against other teams this playoffs. As long as Bosh is healthy, this should’nt be too much of a contest…with all that being said we seen the Heat jag hard last year around now..so maybe itll happen again!

Disappointed that KG didn’t get to play for another ring, but as a basketball fan, you can’t really ask for a better series. Forget who is better than who and just enjoy these guys playing at the top of their games. Hoping this one goes 7. I really think the NBA should consider having Inside do post game coverage for the entire playoffs, regardless of what games actually appear on TNT. ESPN and ABC are really bad.

How is the Heat going to contain Russel Westbrook, Harden and Durant? With the interior defense presence the Thunder have, maybe the Thunder can stop a bit of penetration from Bron and Wade. Sefolosha is a nice perimeter defender, and Durant is also no slouch on the defensive end. The Heat bigs and the Thunder bigs are not the greatest scoring bunch (oh wait I forgot about Bosh). Both coaches are probably not the ones held in greatest esteem by fans. The strengths and shortcomings of either team seem to be in the same level, I cannot really tell who will win.

Stage is set for the NBA Finals the whole world wants to see – Miami vs. OKC. War Heat!!

  • Layzie

I kind of like how most people thinks OKC will win the series. I think MIA plays better as the underdogs. Its going to be a great series no matter who wins. But I do want to see LeBron get his ring. I can’t wait til tomorrow night!

  • Da-REAL-Meat-Hook

Bola, It pretty much goes both ways. What’s your point?

  • http://slamonline.com rr

lets go miami in 6 lets go bron wade and bosh and the rest of the heat were healthy and confident keep faith

  • bike

If MIA loses to OKC, it won’t be on LeBron. MIA has got to get more than 100 percent out of everyone to beat these guys. OKC, as a whole, is a better team and much deeper than MIA. Still should be a classic series and here is hoping it goes 7 games.

bosh will be HUGE in this series. If he can pull ibaka and perkins out of the middle Lebron and Wade will be much more effective. plus his P&R defense will be key. I don’t think sefolasha shuts down Wade as much as ya’ll are thinking he will. hopefully wade get’s his knee drained again though.

This dude posts comments under Caboose, nbk, and my name. Why not just sign in as yourself and post basketball-related matters like an adult?! Why post homo comments under other commenters’ names? My guess is that you have been owned by either nbk, Caboose, allenp, and whoever else you impersonate in a previous post, and this is your sad, pitiful way to trying to get even.

Meathead, it’s because it’s funny and you whiners gett mad. That’s what’s so funny moron.

  • clydesays

Congrats to the Heat. LBJ seemed to find another gear. & Bosh showed up big. My C’s gave it a good run, but it’s hard to win (esp. a vet team) with little or no bench scoring. In the end, I think the starters were just gassed. Interested to see what Ainge gets up to in the offseason…

  • Da-Meat-Hook

    no one finds it funny

  • Bola

Lebron best perimeter defender? I’m not seeing/hearing well. Lebron is okay with his defence but best perimeter? I have seen dudes touch lebron on any good given night.

  • tpathi1

@Bola, who would you take over him as a ‘perimeter defender’? He did make the all defensive 1st team. If you don’t want to say he is the best then fine..but he better than the “okay” you are labeling him as a defender..i would think atleast…KD consistently raping LBJ for 30pts even just seems a little suspicious…something has got to give..either Miami does not put LBJ on KD most of the time..or what KD shoots 10 ft’s if not more a game over Lebron? I just don’t see Lebron in foul trouble, and or KD consistently burning Lebron. It could happen, but I don’t see it happening.

  • tpathi1

KD probably had the best all around game over LBJ in the regular season when the Thunder played the Heat at home, and I don’t even think he had 30 pts that game..he did have a myriad of stats and put the clamps down on Lebron on the defensive end too..but then Lebron got his revenge when the Heat played at home. LBJ doesnt get touched for 40 pts unless its a summer league game or something. He gets game winners drained on him, but players historically do not do well against his d throughout the game.
