San Antonio Spurs May Pursue Kevin Garnett

According to the Express-News, Kevin Garnett will be one of the Spurs’ free agent targets this summer. Tim Duncan will surely love hearing this: “The Spurs will consider everything and everyone this summer when free agency begins. But one option tossed out this weekend by one in the Spurs organization is not just another name. Kevin Garnett. Don’t know him? He’s better known in San Antonio as Tim Duncan’s evil twin. There was a time when it looked like Duncan and Garnett might face off against each other for the 2012 title. Duncan came within two wins of the Finals, Garnett one. Now they are unrestricted free agents, and, as always, contrasts. While Duncan is expected to quietly re-sign this summer with the Spurs, no one is sure what happens next in Boston. Garnett added to the uncertainty Saturday night, leaving the locker room without talking to reporters. Garnett could retire. He could sign another contract with the Celtics. Or the Celtics might not want to sign him so they can begin rebuilding.”

I would much rather KG retire than become an end of career journyman a la Shaq.

Garnett has always been my favorite player. And I’ve always hated the Spurs. I don’t know what I would do if this happened.

But him and KG would be nice tho. Play 2 more seasons in San Antonio with Timmy.

San Antonio is now the elephant graveyard of the NBA?

he really impressed in the playoffs, he has a couple of high quality years left, if they can save him some during the regular season

  • benny

Garnett could use one more year in Boston along with Pierce and Ray Allen. A full, healthy season in beantown will favor the Celtics. After next season, Garnett and company should consider retiring.

    Or to make it easy
KG to Phoenix and he’ll average 25-10 again.

I think KG retires if he doesn’t resign with the Celtics… He has his ring and has been very successful during the whole Big 3 (then 4) era. He definitely has lots of money, with ~$291 mil made over his career. I also hope he doesn’t become like Shaq.

What really killed KG was that he had to play the 5 spot this whole season. IF the Celtics sign a good center KG would be well served to stay with Boston for one more run. However if they continue to play him at the 5 he might have only one healthy season left. I like the Spurs or Suns but how about going to play with K-Love and Rubio in Minnesota?

    “Tim Duncans evil twin” lol

@Mas – He said he’ll never go back to Minny. He hates someone in the office, I presume it’s Incompetent Khan.
Seriously, though, this stacking up thirty-five year olds to win the ring doesn’t seem to be working, does it? Why not phone Kevin Willis if you’re in that much need of a power forward?

*Off topic* but Lebron’s bicep/tricep looks ridiculously huge in the Sprite ad to the right of the screen.

  • Antoine

Stop hatin on the spurs we got 4 rings 4th most in the nba call us old all you want but we always gone be here

  • B.C.

Why would they do this? Makes absolutely no sense, both players hate one another.

  • Wixurrs

KG needs to go where someone else can be the real alpha dog. KG is that fake tough guy we all know. Just ask Anthony Peeler.

  • http://thosefishtacosarethetits.blogspot.com Chris_Griff_3

KG is not going anywhere but Boston

  • BostonBaller

A lot of teams wish they were the elephant graveyard this year since SA got further than all but 3 teams..my goodness! Has either TD or KG said they hate each other or are we hoping if we say it enough everyone will believe it and say it too? Are we still on the Peeler thing? Who on here that actually knows the game wouldn’t want KG on their team so why wouldn’t SA?

  • ron johnson

rite now spurs will beat the celtics bad. “blow out” all the spurs need is KG.
