Brooklyn Nets Trying to Put Together Package to Trade for Dwight Howard

The Rockets haven’t given up the pursuit of Dwight Howard, and according to CBS, neither have the Nets, who are still hoping to move Brook Lopez and a bunch of Draft picks in exchange for the Orlando big man. More details: “As negotiations continue on multiple fronts on a possible Dwight Howard trade, the Brooklyn Nets are trying to assemble a package including at least three first-round picks to land the All-Star center, multiple sources told CBSSports.com. If there is a deal to be made between the Nets and Magic, the most likely scenario would involve center Brook Lopez going to Orlando and a signed-and-traded Kris Humphries going to a third team, one of the sources said. In the most likely Nets-Magic trade scenario, one of the first-round picks would come from a third team. The Nets have their own first-round picks to offer in alternate years under league rules, but if they added Howard to Deron Williams and Joe Johnson, those picks almost certainly would be in the bottom third of the draft for the foreseeable future. Word began circulating in NBA front-office circles Saturday night that the Nets were trying to put together a package that included as many as five first-round picks for Howard. But a person briefed on the discussions described the notion of the Nets funneling more than three first-round picks to Orlando as ‘unrealistic.’ Orlando isn’t solely interested in draft picks and young players in a Howard trade, but also cap relief from a team willing to absorb the contracts of Hedo Turkoglu and/or Jason Richardson.”

I don’t think it’ll work unless they give up brooks.

  • MUBWAR

how many times am i gonna say this? Orlando wants half a team for dwight not Mr. 5 boards a game and picks. you better offer Lopez Hump Brooks and 3 to 4 1st round picks

  • LA Huey

    Nets offer is terrible

  • Trilla

Really though? Unless one of those picks becomes Andrew Wiggins then this is a terrible offer. Just send Dwight to the Lakers and get it over with it. No one’s coming out of the East except for Miami for the foreseeable future.

Magic should trade him for the best possible offer, Dont just sent him to the Nets because thats where he wants to be.. Hell, if I was Orlando, I’d send him packing to the Bobcats or (c)raptors, or some other non playoff team without any other very good players..

Ender must really be awesome at basketball. And I thought he just excelled in Battle School.

If I were the Nets I think I would move on and wait for Dwight to finish out his season with whomever. He’s want to be a Net so let him come next year. Nets should not take on Hedo or Jason Richardson.I don’t think any team is willing excpet for Houston and maybe, Atlanta

I would like to see the idiots on both teams make this trade. Bynum for Howard is more attractive than Lopez for Howard. Plus, don’t those idiots on the Nets know Howard isn’t going to heal until X Mas time. Bummy ass teams.

@allenp …..i gained so much respect for your ‘ender’ reference. favorite book series. concerning the orlando fiasco. i just lament howard’s decision to sign on for one more year in orlando. things would of been better for him and the magic if he would of made up his mind last year. Brooks and draft picks? thats beyond terrible. i wouldn’t trade hibbert for brooks let alone howard…

What if the Nets traded Lopez,Humphries,(maybe another player) and picks with the Rockets for their picks, then Brooklyn just trades The Picks from Houston for Dwight. . .too much?

Magic just did a sign and trade of Ryan Anderson for Gustavo Ayon. I suddenly don’t feel as bad for Suns fans.

Adrian Wojnarowski tweets that Andrew Bynum, the Magic’s primary target in a deal for Howard has told the Lakers he is not interested in Orlando.

If Magic and Lakers want to do a deal, each may need to call the bluff on Howard and Bynum stated unwillingness to accept extensions. Houston, Dallas and Cleveland will be interested in Bynum come 2013 free agency

I don’t think the lakers need Dwight. They should shore up their bench. Dwight just made things tougher on him. If you are going to cause alot of drama, atleast know what you’re going to do.

From the article titled Houston Rockets Continue to Push for Dwight Howard Trade – “According to a person familiar with Orlando’s plans, the same teams remain in the mix for a possible Howard deal: the Lakers, Nets, Rockets, Hawks and Mavericks.” Based on these 5 teams, orlando`s top 2 choices should be the lakers and atlanta because bynum and horford are the best big men of the bunch. from orlando`s perspective: bynum > horford > lopez therefore lakers > atlanta > bk. houston and dallas should not be considered.

Would a dwight for Dirk swap work?

  • http://www.nba.com Dacre

Yes it would but are they dumb enough to do it? Who? Either team.

People just don’t get it. Magic has no choice but to trade Dwight to Brooklyn Net. Bynum stated already he is not interested in Magic.

Dwight stated already he will only agree to trade to Nets. He is a risk to other team.

Magic has a bad vibe and no team or player wants to trade there. The only option is to go with the nets offer, and hopefully these first round picks are a winning lottery ticket.

I repeat they have no choice.

What 3rd team would even want to facilitate a trade to create another super team? So there is just going to be some team that takes on Hedo/J-rich’s contracts, gives up high pick(s), and the best player they get in return is Kris Humphries. How do you explain that to your fans? ——”In today’s league of haves and havenots we willfully decided it was in our best interest to be a havenot.”

the only thing bout about this is that if the rumored deals never happen, The back up plan would be affected. I wonder how Lopez feels hearing that his team wants to trade him while he’s a free agent. Smh i hope this deal gets done for dwight because he only responsible for half of this.

And for the record, Brook Lopez is a pretty good player. He may average 6-7 reb but he can get you 20 pts and a few blocks if you work with him…He is a least a top 5 center and a true center… Orlando is probably the worst managed franchise i have ever seen.
