Darko Milicic Drawing Interest from Heat, Nets, Clippers and Bulls

Free agent Darko Milicic may not be out of a basketball job for long, as multiple teams – including the Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, Brooklyn Nets and LA Clippers — are said to be interested in Milicic’s services. Per the LA Times and ESPN: “Milicic’s agent, Marc Cornstein, said Wednesday that the Clippers ‘are a team we have spoken to’ about joining. The Clippers have only the veteran minimum of about $1.229 million to offer Milicic. But Cornstein said the money was less of a factor because the Timberwolves must still pay Milicic the $10.898 million remaining on the last two years of his contract before the team used the amnesty provision to cut him. ‘Playing time, team situation will be crucial factors,’ Cornstein said. ‘Because Darko was amnestied, he and I both agree that it’s a crucial year for him.’ [...] The Chicago Bulls have had initial discussions with Darko Milicic’s camp, according to his agent, Marc Cornstein. Yahoo! Sports first reported Wednesday that the Miami Heat, Los Angeles Clippers, Brooklyn Nets and Bulls were the front-runners for Milicic’s services, according to a source. Cornstein confirmed the Bulls’ interest, indicating that he was trying to explore different landing spots for his client. Milicic was amnestied by the Minnesota Timberwolves last week. The timing of the Bulls’ interest is curious given they are going to have to decide on Omer Asik’s future in the coming days. Asik agreed to a three-year offer sheet with the Houston Rockets earlier this month and plans to sign it later this week.”

I hope the Bulls get him…should do what Asik did the last two years

  • jayrose

Cosign mike…he’s obviously going to be cheaper to keep and we know that’s a plus for the bulls front office

Darko is NOT Asik. You don’t want Darko. You’ve never seen so many missed left handed jump hooks and poutiness. Dude’s out of shape anyway.

i don’t think that has ever happened?? 4 of 5 top picks in the same draft, play together in the same squad… that’s another one for the history books miami, all LeBron haters who’s next on the target list??

  • vtrobot

Darko def has potential. Ha ha. Asik >>>>> Darko.

  • LA Huey

When Darko retires, he’s going to take all his riches and construct an underground compound in Serbia where he’ll host unsanctioned gypsy brawls.

what pick was leattner? shaq mourning and leattner played together in miami right?

  • LA Huey

Laettner was 2nd pick. I think they played in 04-05 together.

  • RunNGun

Laettner was the third overall pick. Shaq and Zoe went 1 and 2 in the draft that year. Darko is a bust, lazy, and unmotivated. Can he even play 20 minute stretches anymore? Far as I know, he can sit on the end of the bench and eat a couple cheeseburgers.

  • Groves

MIAMI HEAT should go after him hard, either him or Chris Andersen

Would be something to be on the Heat. Might as well just call them Team 2003 Draft.

  • LA Huey

    RunNGun, thx.
Groves, the Feds are going hard after Birdman.

Really disappointed with the Bulls front office in general. The Asik offer was out there weeks ago. But still Bulls management sat around and let that handcuff them. They’re not only going after bad players, they’re going after guys with notoriously bad attitudes like Darko and Vlad. They’re wasting away DRose’s prime years because they have a cheap owner and idiots managing things. They’ll sign an aging Hinrich for $3MM a year over Mayo, who could be your starting 2 gaurd of the future, for $4MM a year. Dumb moves all around.

  • MeloMan15

If the Heat get him they will have 4 of the top 5 picks from the 2003 draft

  • Heals

Glad my C’s pulled their hat out of the ring. KG woulda killed the guy by the 2nd week of training camp for his on/off demeanor…

  • Heals

    That’s a wild tidbit Melo…

Strange, I thought that all those teams already had fully functioning coat racks.

Skee-Lo wasn’t lying. Must be nice to be tall. 11 years and counting for Kwame Brown, 9 years and counting for Darko.

  • JBT

  • loc
