Deron Williams Signs $98 Million Contract on His iPad

This offseason’s most coveted free agent signed his new contract with the Brooklyn Nets nearly an hour after the end of the moratorium period on Tuesday night from his hotel in Las Vegas. Yup, DWill made his five-year, $98.75 million contract (with an opt-out after four years) official using a free app (Sign Now) on his iPad. Williams then tweeted a picture to his followers:

The IPad signing is neat, but what if someone claims to have their pad hacked or stolen and signs? lol

I’m not signing nothing for 98mill on my Ipad! Actually, I’m lying, I’d sign the concrete with a rock if I had to!

How is it really official if it’s done on an iPad exactly?

  • http://slamonline.com nbk

well he has a photo of him signing the deal. he was likely sitting with his agent. And the you can just print the signed contract, just like any other photo copy.

so if they don’t get howard he can just erase the signature from cyber space?

  • LA Huey

It’s probably as official as a fax.

Electronics are going to be the fall of mankind. Have we learned nothing from Terminator? For real though, the worldwide web done took it’s toll on the music industry, magazine game and now regular paper companies. R.I.P Michael Scott…

    Dwight will always live on

I don’t have a problem with the ipad signiture. It’s the shorts, t-shirt, ballcap, and him playing with himself while he signs that troubles me.

  • LA Huey

O, next up is toilet paper. Gonna be wiping our butts with bits…

O with the comment of the year! rip michael scott indeed!!!

  • Fat Lever

Are those Dwight’s arms in the pic, hanging over Deron, wishing he’s next for BKLYN? “Hey Deron, is it my turn yet?”

That is a great app- SignNow.com- I use it to sign docs all the time on my iPhone! That is so cool that Deron Williams is helping to popularize the use of electronic signatures.

I hope he got Apple Care+ or that contract will only be good for one year.

  • Jose

man, i’d be more impressed if he chiseled it into a rock or concrete, that be legit

Everything is a f*cking advertisement!!!!! Cot dammit… How are you not tired of this constant bombardment?! Isiah Thomas throwing the first pitch was also one giant ad for Reebok. Sickening.

  • Yep

for a hundred milli i’d definitely be signing my name in blood

Actually this is a picture of him on the toilet playing UDraw…

  • Chukaz

This was freaking lame. Bro, please tell me that wasn’t the first Ipad… or the 2nd. Homes, you’re a millionaire and been so for he last 7 or 8 years. Are you really gonna tell me you don’t have the newest Ipad? Hopefully he puts those 98 million to good use and spends 800 bucks on a new one. He’s playing in Brooklyn too. You’d think he’d be pressured into a new ipad by all those wanna be hipster freaks

  • deron

False claim. The app in there is ADOBE not signnow. Get ur facts straight before you publish a story. LOLS

  • jeremiah22

yeah. that is Adobe Acrobat Reader X. It’s not SignNow. SignNow looks like they paid Darren Rovell to say it’s SignNow but there’s no way he could’ve known since he’s not Deron’s friend or Agent or had anything to do with the contract.

  • deron

No way they would sign a million dollar contract and let a company have possession with it. They would be able to open it. That is definetely Adobe
