John Wall Says It’s ‘Time to Be an All-Star’

You can continue to laugh, but John Wall still believes his Wizards can make the Playoffs next season. Not only that, Wall plans to make the All-Star team as well. From Hoopshype (via DC Sportsbog): “I’m very confident,’ Wall said. ‘I mean, the organization, the general manager, the owner and the coaching staff are doing a great job. Now it’s just up to us the players to go out there and execute what they’re giving us and play our best.’ The man with the mic then asked Wall if it was time for him to make the playoffs. ‘Yeah, it’s time for me to be in the playoffs, it’s time to be an All-Star,’ Wall said. ‘It’s all those type of things that I’ve been wanting and wanting [for] this organization, to help the Wizards get better. So it’s all up to me to lead my team and us to get better.’”

If he develops a jumpshot and learns to play under control he jumps into the Deron, Rondo Paul discussion.

Too bad he’ll be playing in Pro-Ams instead.

Nene, Okafor and Ariza will make life easier for Wall…the rookie Beal should benefit as well. His assist numbers will increase and he can put the ball in the hoop. He has enough talent around him to challenge for that 8th spot in the east. He should also be able to get that 3rd spot in the allstar game. With D Rose working himself back, it’ll probably come down to Wall and Irving. It wouldn’t be a cake walk but it could happen.

  • JL

Give him a couple more years. It takes PGs a while to get used to the NBA game. But this could be his year, despite him taking a pretty big step back last year.

“…I’m not so sure if Irving’s supporting cast was all that much better. Maybe in terms of bball IQ, but not talent.” Homie, that makes a HUGE difference. And that doesn’t even take professionalism into account. Professionalism and a high hoops IQ is the difference between Shane Battier and DeShawn Stevenson.

    Co-Sign LA Huey
Although Deshawn was a champion before Shane.

@Tempest, haha, I suppose you’re right, John better be working hard this summer then! Rondo’s passing/vision is absolutely top tier, only guys on that level are Nash and perhaps Rubio and Kidd (if he’s sober).

The day Wall develops a consistent jumpshot and learns how to pace himself, is the day he becomes the best PG in the League.

  • Sérgio

Jtaylor, even if he develops those thing, he will never be in Rondo’s, Paul’s, Deron’s and Rose’s level.
But, according to Brett, may Chalmers can eventually become the best PG in the league…

Wall will never be a great point guard in the NBA. All flash, no skill and no work ethic. Just because you get 8 passes to people in scoring position to score when your team sucks every-night because of you and lose every game by 20pts speaks a lot of his potential-LOL, states nothing to me. In two years, everyone will change their story. The NBA is not AND-1, Basketball. Yall are probably the same people, who kept stating Wall is going to Kill in the NBA, based off his summer videos-right.

I do not believe what im hearing. EVERYONE DOG”S this kid just like they do WESTBROOK. and from what i know Russell is on National Team. most athelethic PG’s WALL>WESTBROOK>ROSE. Point blank . he avergae 8 assists with a bunch of selfish teammates. BEAL ARIZA NENE OKAFOR will make him ELIte. leave the guy along he only average 16 and 8 in a lockout season in which 2/5 starters were rookies, and the other 3 ? 2nd year players. so lets be Honest here Kentucky was the topic on if the WIZ cpuld even beat them. the team is way better and Wall will be way better becuase of that

Seed, do you watch Wizards games? Wall is young, very young, and has not been given much of an opportunity to break out thus far. He could easily go out and get 17-10 this year. That’s not out of the question.

  • http://www.kb24.com The Seed

^^^I have watched Wizards games, he is the point guard so he is the quarterback of how the team flows= with that opportunity, he will never average 10 assists, he wants to score. Kyrie will be way better in the end.

  • Jerome

Were they counting air balls as passes. Only way I see CHUCK Wall getting 8 assists per.

  • http://hoopopera.blogspot.com 3ptlegend

Wall has the talent, the Wizards have gotten better with the trade fro Okafor and Ariza. They have a very impressive frontcourt with Nene and Okafor. As for Wall he can be an all-star but the turnovers must decrease. Two he has to take better shots and improve his jumper. With Rose out, and Lin out west he has a chance.

  • phil da windmill

well he was da man at kentucky ….(blank stare)

  • ReHeat

SLAM was the biggest culprit of hying the s*** out of John Wall.

Kyrie Irving is not better than John Wall. at all. Kyrie is a better scorer, and he plays more under control yes. but he’s not actually better at anything besides actual shooting(like steph curry, he might be able to hit 50-40-90 soon)/scoring. Wall is taller, faster, stronger, a better defender, a better rebounder, a better floor general(while having a worst roster/coaching staff, probably the worst in the L), better at penetrating, and a better ball thief. I’m a fan of both’s games but overall I gotta go with the homie John Wall.

  • http://slamonline.com Datkid

also kyrie irving’s from duke so I only trust him not to suck for so long…. seriously how many good duke players are there in the L right now? grant hill was a HOF’er until his body decided it hated him Carlos Boozer sucks now more than ever, JJ Reddick is a shell of his college self (and Jimmer’s ceiling) and Luol Deng is a good versatile forward who despite being in the nba can’t dribble between his legs. seriously.

  • Ball.A.BabY

wall is a a few more roster moves away to going where he want’s to go… as long as the wizards are more consistent with trading or drafting players to not only improve from last years horrible effort but to significantly improve the stability of the franchise, ever since Agent zero got caught with some weapons , the wizards hasn’t been able to recover since…. glad they got rid of rashad and ariza was a good pick to go along with okafor…. but wall only has beal to really consider as a decent option to pass to IF HE CONSISTENTLY WORKS ON HIS POTENTIAL… but i am liking there front court depth….

  • http://slamonline.com Datkid

also guys? D.rose won’t be an all-star again for a while HIS LEGS DON’T WORK (not that it’s not possible) between Wade, Rondo, JJ, and DWill, who are all already basically in for life, and Kyrie, Kyle Lowry, and Brandon Jennings who are looking more and more all-star worthy, it’ll be difficult but not impossible especially if somebody(read probably wade) slips significantly during the season. Granted D.wade is sitting out the olympics and working with a shooting coach and I don’t want it to happen but it’s certainly possible.

  • YOYO

Y’all forgeting about Brandon Jennings, the guy will explode next year, I predict 21 and 9 out of the guy

  • Akbar

Redd, no one is more commited to the game than Wall, he sets these goals for himself because he has high expectations, stop trying to paint him as some arrogant and selfish player, when he is clearly trying to try to be the best player he can be, the great players all had this kind of attitude, and you act like that he has been in the league for 10 years, its only his 3rd year, tons of room for improvement, I honestly think he will be better than Kyrie in the near future..

  • Akbar

Please Seed, Wall almost never wants to score, his first option is always to pass, one of his problems is that he gets way too passive at times. If he had more of a scoring mentality with his talents, I actually think the Wizards would have been better.

  • Akbar

Seed, Wall is anything but a shooting guard, his biggest strength is passing the ball, its his decision making which is suspect, but that is mainly because he outruns himself, to say he has no work ethic proves you haven’t followed the team at all, the kid is the first one and last one in and out of the gym and all of the coaches have raved about his work ethic, the reason he was the same in his sophomore year was because of the dysfunction of the team, he had nothing to work with and the team didn’t help him. If you followed him in the second half of the season, you see his drastic improvement in both his decision making and his efficiency.

  • Harr Green

Seed If Actually Watched Wizards Games You Would Know Will Is Pass First Its Jut Until Now He Had To Pass To Jordan Crawford And Andray blatche.John Wall Is Already The Best Young Point Guard In The League Excluding Rose, He Will be Deadly when He Gets That Jumpshot Down He Will Be Lethal
