Michael Beasley Says He’s Going to Be an All-Star Next Season

The Phoenix Suns signed free agent forward Michael Beasley this summer. The wildly talented Beasley  – who’s made headlines so far in his young NBA career mostly for getting himself into trouble, rather than for his game — claims that he’s ready to reach All-Star status. From XTRA 910 in Phoenix (via SRI): “On his past issues: ‘You have to embrace your past. Ultimately it was my fault. I’m here to play basketball and I’m here to work hard and hopefully my next contract will be a little bit bigger to say the least. I’ve been through a lot in my past, some good and some bad and that kind of altered my value. I understand I’ve grown and I’m ready to move on.’ When he realized that it was time for him to mature: ‘My last year in Minnesota, which was last year. There are a lot of things that I know I had control over or did have control over and I realized it was me who didn’t capitalize on a lot of those things. In order to grow as a person the first step is realizing it was your fault more than anybody else. I did that and I’m ready to move on.’ How he would describe his game: ‘I’m just a winner. I’m going to work hard and do what I have to do on both sides of the floor but overall I just want to be exciting. This is a business and the fans come to be entertained. At the same time I just want to win.’ [...] Whether he believes he will be an All-Star before his contract is up in Phoenix: ‘In my mind I’m going to be an All-Star this coming season. All I want to do is win. Whether I get the recognition for what I do on the floor or not, as long as we’re winning I’m okay with that.’”

    Gortat, Morris, Beasley, Dudley and Dragic. They won’t make the playoffs but they’ll be exciting and with another solid ofseason they might take a big leap after next season.

    For anyone who doesn’t know, beasley has skills comparable to the best scorers in the league, he just has to put it together. What the problem is is that people wanna keep him in the past instead of letting the kid move forward. If he leaves all the “off the court” stuff, OFF THE COURT, he could be an all start caliber player. Look, he’s in phoenix, he’s gonna get whatever shot he wants, I know I’m the kind of person, doubters fire me up on the court.

    he could really be melo if he were willing to bully people a little more on the offensive end and work from the elbows in. sometimes he’s just out there floating shooting deep jumpers.

    i was also surprised that he hasn’t been able to finish with authority in the nba. he has the same wingspan and max vert as melo (35)… so why can’t he bang on cats?! it’s maddening.

    he should take some special mentoring lessons with oakley mason and starks about toughness as other players do with olajuwon when they work on their post game

    He was a straight up beast in college what the hell happened to him? This was the same dude that got a lot of people arguing whether d rose shouldve been a 2nd overall pick. Still hoping he pulls it together because I believe offensively he could be unstoppable.

    @Howhedodat
    Did you really say Marion is a borderline all-star? wow….

    He’s talented but a knucklehead. He really needs to take it to the rim more often than settling for deep, deep jump shots; which was one of the most frustrating things to watch on LP. Until he grows up and learns to play D, he can kiss those all-star dreams goodbye.

    Man Beasley has game we just haven’t seen it yet he can score from the wing and he can post.. I see him putting up 25 this season. I don’t count the sun’s out this year if Kendall Marshall can run that offense they’ll be 8th. But Taylor the good weed is in Cali not az

  • Mack

    Beasley is one of the best scorers in the league already, and Phoenix needs some help now that Nash can’t get everyone buckets… 24 a night with 8+ boards could be realistic with B-Easy working hard. He wasn’t drafted 2nd overall for nothing.

    ..it could happen…but right after he said the quote, instead of picking up a ball he sat down his big bowl of fruit loops and picked up the xbox control then told his boy to pass the blunt. lol. Just kidding.
