Pablo Prigioni on Jeremy Lin: ‘I’m Not This Kind of Player’

Knicks PG Pablo Prigioni old the NY Post that he’s a pass-first PG, unlike Jeremy Lin, who “is more a scorer.” Known for his pick-and-roll play, the 35-year-old Argentinean thinks he can be a perfect facilitator for New York: “Pablo Prigioni assured Knicks fans they have nothing to worry about at the point-guard position without Jeremy Lin. Prigioni, starting point guard for Argentina’s medal-contending Olympic squad, said he is more of a pass-first point guard than Lin, and the club will be solid with a three-headed platoon of Raymond Felton, Jason Kidd and himself. ‘I think we have at that position everything,’ Prigioni said Saturday in an interview at a remote high school in East London. ‘Raymond can score more. Jason and [I] can run the team. I feel we have many options at that position. Fans will be happy and enjoy our game. Jeremy is more a scorer. He likes to shoot more. I saw him play 10 games. I’m not this kind of player. I like the team to play good, pass the ball, find open shots. I like to play smart — if someone’s hot, pass the ball to him.’”

Prigioni is an old dog. Smart and experienced. Love when he inexplicably appears out of nowhere and steals ball when the other team is making the first pass after a basket. Just don’t expect him to overrun anybody.

lol@ shutup…… that’s a will ferrell movie waiting to happen. lol

  • y1ch

he can say anything because he’s got two back ups. so ya, he’s safe. unlike in jeremy’s position while he was in the knicks. and please, pablo, look at jlin’s stats. the no. of assists jlin has is still not so bad afterall, eh?

  • TonyStarks

Has there ever been an older rookie in the NBA ?

  • L Dribble

I like the backhanded trash talk – “I’m not this kind of player. I like the team to play good, pass the ball, find open shots. I like to play smart”. In other words he won’t average a league leading 6.4 turnovers per 48 minutes.

I saw this guy play…he makes me laughs…honestly, i hope he proves me wrong, but this guy has no court vision whatsoever. In the game argentina played against the USA team, this guy freezed out some of his own teammates. He could have 4 assists in 4 different positions, that’s 8 points, unless the player would have shot a 3 pt. they were easy passes, as i remember they would have been layups and elbow shots.., so please mr. pablo, jeremy do scores but his is money, unless he is playing against the heat of course. When your 35 year old frame comes to the nba and you make your first assist, then talk…otherwise…shhhh

I like the Knicks pg’s this year, they will be a top 4 team in the east and win the first round of their playoff series.

  • smoove

Knicks fans should be happy, Id rather have my pg trying to slash and dish in the paint and get the team involved, then always looking for his shot because the crowd is screaming his name.

When Lin was on his roll he didn’t have many options to pass too, Melo and Amare were out. When Amare came back they played pretty good pick and roll basketball. He had a few double digit assist games as well so we can’t sit here and act like he doesn’t pass the ball.

  • Valkyrie

Since when does Lin chuck? Talk about his turnovers all you want, but the guy passes the ball. 35 year old rookies should constantly remind themselves that they are 35 year old rookies before taking shots at other players.

  • Reignworld

Geez. Go easy on Pablo will ya? It’s obvious they made him watch JLin games and were like: “Pablo, can you do that? Si or No? Don’t worry, you have a few months”

  • pass

Wow, now everyone joins the Lin-bandwagon to win him/herself 15-mins of national fame simply by shouting something negative about Jeremy Lin.

I am expecting President Obama and the lackluster Romney to follow suit in a few months, muhahahahaha.

  • franko

easy fellas. Pablo is all that you want. watch Argentina play. August 6.

  • Basketball_iQ

Jeremy lin would wipe the floor with the 35yr old rookie…
Lin’s game is different, he wouldn’t ride pine behind jkidd/felton … Go play in traffic.
Lmao @shutup,,, this is a will ferrell movie in less than a year.
He’ll have a spanish accent & chest hair purging from his jersey.
