Pau Gasol Considers Playing With Steve Nash a ‘Huge Honor’

Just like everyone else in Laker Land, Pau Gasol is excited about the Steve Nash acquisition (assuming, of course, the two of them even get a chance to be teammates.) Per the OC Register: “It remains to be seen whether Nash and Gasol, two of the more skilled passers in basketball, get to suit up as Lakers together next season. The Lakers remain interested in trading either Gasol or Andrew Bynum to alter the makeup of the team. But Gasol said via a Twitcam video chat early Thursday morning from Madrid it would be a ‘huge honor to play alongside Steve.’ Gasol pointed out how Nash has been a dominant point guard ‘as long as I’ve played in the NBA.’ Nash is 38, but Gasol said Nash ‘still has a lot of juice in him. So I look forward to that. I know he makes everyone around him better,’ Gasol said. ‘So it’s an exciting moment, I think, for all the Lakers fans and all the Lakers’ family.’”

Considering Nash’s Age, Im Not Gonna Jump Out And Say 2013 Champs, but this is a great pick up. I can see why they still want to trade either bynum or gasol for howard. If they pick up howard, Lakers are going to be a force to reckon with for years to come

Howard will be a great pick up – he can hide Nash’s defences inability. Westbrook is not better but it will be harder for Nash to keep up with him than the other way around (depending on the picks they get, but still).

Pau is just hoping he finally gets to touch the ball more than 2 times a game. Well… dream big PAU! lol

Good pickup. Russell Westbrook will still run circles around Nash’s defense (or lack there of).

The real question is whether Kobe will share the ball more. He shared it with the big men, but not at a detriment to his own shot attempts (at a ultimate detriment to his team). The Lakers don’t need to trade Pau, but with this group the window to win is at most 2 years. Bynum’s knees kinda puts him at about the same age as the rest of the starters. Lakers D will be ok for Nash since they have Bynum and Gasol covering the rim and Kobe and Artest on the wings. Nash will just funnel the shooters into the lane. I think they have a great chance at beating OKC. They had many 3 close games in the 5 game series that they coulda won with Nash making some shots that Kobe was missing. Should be fun to watch next year!

This quote will quickly turn awkward if Pau is the next Laker to get shipped out of town..not much honour there, Pau.

“Russell Westbrook will still run circles around Nash’s defense”

This means nothing as Westbrook (or any other high level point guard) runs circles around EVERYONE’S one-on-one defense. The real question is does the team have the front court to contain the back court penetration?

Ship Bynum out ASAP for Howard (or another high level PF) looking to win.

I second LLC#12….Pau is most likely going to get shipped out but can’t blame the guy for wanting to play with a player that knows how to pass.

Gasol’s comments are premature because if Orlando accepts Lakers offer of Gasol and Ron Artest…he’s a goner. Lol.

Anyway, I don’t see anything in the Western Conference defeating OKC Thunder in a seven-game series.

Westbrook IS better than Steve Nash in 2012.

Don, If okc played the spurs the same way that they did against Miami, they would’ve been straight swept. That team is incredibly talented but also incredibly mercurial. They played the best ball they possibly could’ve played in the last four games against the spurs and then proceeded to play the worst ball they possibly could’ve played just a week after that.

How about we send Amare to the Lakers for Gasol? That works with the cap right?

  • justin05

Amare for Gasol? Puh-leez…Nash and Gasol/Bynum/Howard will operate much more effectively together than Amare at this point in his career. I would rather trade Bynum for Howard instead of Gasol but we don’t need him if we have to give up Artest and Barnes to take on Turkoglu’s contract. The Lakers just need another consistent 3 pointer, Nash should help in that department, and we are set. Next year should be fun.

pau is obviously stupid, this is an even bigger indicator his ass is gonna get traded, they dont need another playmaker on the team when they had a lot of guys who needed the ball last year

  • Buyout

Bynum’s more likely to get shippe out

Even Pau Gasol will readily say what Allenp doesn’t care to admit…. (jokes Allen… :P )

Pau get ready to SCORE… but more importantly get ready to be the new “Leandro Barbosa” to Steve Nash’s Hollywood film productions!!
