Report: Jameer Nelson to Re-Sign With Magic

With so much turmoil surrounding the team, the Orlando Magic finally have one certainty for next season: their starting point guard is staying. Jameer Nelson told the Orlando Sentinel this morning that he and the Magic had agreed on a deal: “The Orlando Magic and free-agent point guard Jameer Nelson have reached an agreement in principle on a new contract that will keep him with the franchise, Nelson told the Orlando Sentinel this morning. ‘I was prepared to go where I needed to go to continue my career, and I think I kind of expressed that to the organization,’ Nelson said. ‘But I also told them that I would love to come back. Genuinely, I love the city. I love the organization. I’ve learned a lot from the people in the organization. The DeVos family means a lot to myself and my family and it means a lot to me that they always put out a winning product.’”

    If it’s over 5 mil a year it’s a bad deal. This guy I’d the ultimate me first player and thinks he’s a lot better than he is (he seems to forget he butchered Orlando in the 09 finals and got out played by a washed up rafer alston

    Who’s a worse second-best player: Nelson alongside Howard, or Mo Williams with Lebron? My money’s on Mo, but it’s close.

    I’d love it if he said “I was gonna go to another team, but then there’s a chance Dwight might go there too. So I chose to stay…cause there’s no chance of Dwight doing that.”

    No disrespect to Jameer but, He sucks, the Magic ain’t goin nowhere with Jameer at the point even if Dwight Coward comes back to the Magic. And we all know he’s NOT coming back to Orlando.

    Jameer is terrible. He had that one career year and has been back to his low pct self since. No D, no O. Not sure why the Magic signed him back to be their starting PG

    this makes it official: dwight will be moved to la or bk. if bk doesnt include jj or crash in the trade along with lopez and brooks they probably dont have a chance of getting dwight because orl is enamored with bynum. a 3rd team like atlanta may have an outside shot of landing dwight: horford > blopez. but it would have to be a 3-team trade since orl doesnt need both teague and devin harris. it would be interesting to see dwight and jsmoove in atl.

    Great! They’ve got Jameer Nelson as the starting PG with Chris Duhon backing him up. Has there been a better PG combo in world history?

    Sigh…the only redeeming factor is if his salary was cut in half..knowing the Magic right now, probably not.

    @caboose my sincere condolences.

    orlando better pull off some dwight trade because nelson is not the future

    after that season where Meerkat messed it up for Skip, he has been straight up garbage.

    Man, I am not happy about this. I’m tired of Jameer dribbling the ball off his foot. He can’t split a defense and should only be considered as a good back up point.

  • beasting

    cosign retrobat. lol

    after this signing I think orlando should seriously consider working out a 2 or 3-team trade with atlanta who has 2 starting pgs teague and devin harris that are both better than nelson. horford, teague/harris, and additional players/picks/cash for howard.

    That is bad news-I thought they were going to make decisions that would be best for the Orlando Magic. All last year everyone I would talk to about winning the championship-they would say, “Orlando can not win with point guard-Nelson.” Next thing I will hear is that they messed around and cannot make any deals for Howard and we will be stuck with that big liar. Even if Howard agrees to stay for this season-he would act like he would want to win. But he would just want them to “throw me the ball” and “I want to make the decisions for the plays.” and all he cares about is to make big points per game, and he could care less if the Magic actually won the game. That is how he was last year, and oh,yeah, big shiny teeth and say I want to have fun, fun while playing

    Jameer had game, he just never found it after that injury his all star year. I think he’s lived up to a late first round draft pick though.
