Boston Celtics Officially Sign Jeff Green

Forward Jeff Green, who agreed in principle with the Boston Celtics last month, officially signed his contract Wednesday. The Celtics originally acquired Green as part of the “Kendrick Perkins” trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder during the 2010-2011 season, but haven’t seen much of the Georgetown product since; Green missed all of the lockout-shortened campaign due to a heart condition. Via ESPN.com: “‘We are thrilled to have Jeff back with the Celtics,’ Ainge said in a statement on the Celtics’ official website. ‘Jeff’s versatility on offense and ability to guard players out on the perimeter is something that we are looking forward to having on the court this season.’ While it hasn’t been confirmed what exactly kept the deal from becoming official, speculation surely will revolve around a stipulation in Green’s contract related to his health. He missed the entirety of the 2011-2012 season after he underwent heart surgery to repair an aortic aneurysm. Additionally, there could have been debate over the length and value of Green’s new deal, rumored to be for four years and approximately $36 million.”

Boston is going to be solid this year. Granted, all these new pieces need to fit together, but if they buy into the “brotherhood” culture that KG has instilled in the team … They will cause some problems.
