Former NBA Player Dan Roundfield Drowned

Retired NBAer Dan Roundfield reportedly died while saving his wife from the water yesterday, as the couple was vacationing off the coast of Aruba. The AJC has the details: “The report said Roundfield’s wife became distressed while swimming at Baby Beach and Roundfield tried to assist her. His body was found an hour later, according to the report. The Aruba Herald reported that witnesses saw the woman return to shore but that Roundfield was taken out to sea. Roundfield’s body was found under some rocks, the Herald reported. [...] Roundfield, 59, played six seasons for the Hawks from 1978-79 to 1983-84. He was named to All-Star teams in 1980, ‘81 and ‘82 and was second-team All-NBA in 1979-80. Roundfield also was voted to the All-Defensive team in five of his 12 NBA seasons. [...] The Cavaliers selected Roundfield in the second round of the 1975 draft after the Detroit native starred at Central Michigan University. The Hawks signed Roundfield as a free agent before the 1978-79 season. In the summer of 1984 Atlanta traded Roundfield to the Pistons for Cliff Levingston, Antoine Carr and two draft picks.”

He was before my time but from the stats a good player and from the comments under the AJC story and very well liked man on and off the court in Atlanta. Made the ultimate sacrifice saving his wife which is an honorable a way someone can pass. RIP.

Why wont black people just take the time to learn how to swim. “Black People Float Day” should become a national holiday added to the month of february.
