NBA Players React to Team USA’s Close Win Over Lithuania

A tweetcap.

Team USA squeaked out a 99-94 victory against Lithuania this morning, needing a late push from LeBron James after their opponent held an unexpected 2-point lead in the fourth quarter. But the Americans did earn that elusive W, and while—and after—they did so, many NBA players (both casual observers and members of the squad) took to Twitter with their thoughts on the performance. Roll through the gallery above to see what they had to say.

LBJ is still not clutch in the 4th.

Kobe (1 for 7 on 24 hours rest) is still a better player than LeChoke.

    I miss any?

  • ChipS

    lol Baby Bosh chillin.

  • derby

carmelo must be the best FIFA player…hahah

  • ChipS

Don’t blame Kobe’s performance on 24 hours of rest, that’s just silly, close to trolling.

  • Conoro

The two fouls at the beginning hindered his rhythm.

Man I missed the game, I have it on my torrent queue thoguht. But damn… this sounds like the game was manipulated to be close.

Miami Heat used to do this on the nba. Basically that’s what you do with LeBron James is on the lineup.

  • DossMoney

@ Jay Cutler you must be from Ohio with all that Lebron hate lol….. Carmelo does it all on the floor so does Lebron. i love to watch them all play together,ts amazing.

Wow lol anyway glad they pulled it out good to see LeBron embracing his leadership role. I’m a Kobe fan and one of the biggest Laker fans on here but it’s funny to see how he gets such a pass for his horrid shooting.

  • ohio

    Derby, it’s not FIFA idiot, it’s FIBA…

  • MissJackieM

That game was was thrilling !!! Glad we pulled it out though. Chris Bosh’s son is just adorable !!!

  • MUBWAR

    loool at baby bosh.

  • Bananas

yeah carmelo anthony is the best fifa player in the world. Dudley you’re dumb. The game was ugly. America wasn’t diled in and Lithuania wasn’t playing freely let’s hope for a better game against Argentina.

  • LA Huey

LeBron came through in the end. Lithuania has solid crew.
    Nice picture of Baby Bosh.

  • derby

@ according to jared dudley its fifa !

Surprised it was only a 5 point win.
LeBron has just gained even more confidence down the stretch. It never was a case of him not being “clutch.” It was more of a case of being apprehensive when the clock was ticking down. For now on, I relate to clutch as ‘Confidence.’ I don’t know, maybe winning that elusive first ring has unearthed all the positivity hidden inside of him, which has enabled him to get buckets late. Anyway, on to the next one….
    Confidence = Clutch

I’m surprised no one is saying anything about K.Love’s tweet.

  • buzz

is there any site where i can watch the highlights or the game? the one i had used is now banned. :/

I don’t like LBJ or Wade but Bosh is by far one of my most liked players(least top 5). Anyways, I can’t help but hope the USA loses one but still gets the Gold Medal.

    Russia beat Spain tho..

  • Heals

I just love watching and rooting for “International” Melo. Must be cool to say no one in the world can cover me. You check nbc.com buzz, I thought they had every event up for free with replay-ability…

    Sabonis – DNP CD.

    My thoughts from the game
    - Jasikevicius is still going? After missing that shot in Sidney, destroying Steph and co. in Athens and still got some game left.
    - So much for all the K-Love hate earlier on. He is definitely proving himself with each game.
    - It’s great to see this Lebron down the stretch. The confidence. The reads he makes. The team’s quite deference to Lebron. Even Kobe seems to be ok with this.
    - Linas Kleiza’s constant whining to the refs that Melo was leaving his lane early on free throw rebounds. Melo’s clowning of Kleiza to quit snitching.
    - Jasikevicius does A LOT of complaining on EVERYTHING. This alone puts him on DWade’s level.
    - I had doubts about bringing International Melo off the bench. But he is producing far more in limited limits. Someone should ask Woody to start Novak and bring Melo off the bench.
    - When Kobe catches outside the three point line and starts jab stepping, I cringe and start to yell, “Don’t settle for the three!”
    - If CP3 has Westbrook’s physical ability, the CP3/international Melo high pick and roll would be as lethal as Lebron’s “unstoppable move”. Defending big has to run out and cut off CP3 THEN recover and contest Melo’s shot. Suicide either way.

To me, lebron isn’t clutch he’s a closer which is just as good. He’s the same as Westbrook in the same sense, he may not take the last shot when needed but if the game is close or the team is down he will work until the game is 1 or 2 possessions, where a clutch player will shine (in this example KD ) people don’t understand that lebron is a pg in a sf /pfs body so he’s more into making the right plays for the W

  • canesta

    Spencer Hawes…lol

  • feez_22

    haha baby bosh!!!

  • Roscoe

Lith played hard & their D-zone worked.

  • A.

Baby Bosh, while imitating his pops with the hand behind the head, has his hand out as if to say “Stop hogging the remote old man, I need to watch my cartoons!”

Damn!!! I missed this game but caught all the f*cking blow-out games. SMH

Haven’t seen the game yet, looking for a replay somewhere.

Man, Ive been saying this since the pre-Olympic ‘friendly’s”, this 2012 Team Achilles heel is they are small in the paint. It’s quote possible that these bigger sized international teams can get us off that weakness.

Team USA is still the favorite but not by as much as alot of people think..

  • Leoni

Tell Dudley that is FIBA, not FIFA, unless Carmello plays soccer too.

  • Phil the thrill

Dudley didn’t go to Harvard huh. You humiliate a shitty team and barely beat a good one. This team would beat the 92 dream team, yeah right! Most unlikeable team ever.

  • greg

^^ If you want to criticize people for their spelling, please spell Carmelo properly.

  • http://www.hoopsworld.com IamYOU

    BURN!

  • rob stewart

Tyson Chandler wears the same #4 USA jersey as Iverson and has the same tattoo on his left arm. Just saying

  • AQWORD

..^^^ also Tyson Chandler is so broke against good teams its not even funny. He looke lost out there. If he came to play in europe he would come off the bench. Enjoyed this game so much. Props to Lithuania for sticking to their gameplan, not being fazed by Team USA & executing brilliantly. While obeying Chuck Ds great law ; Don’t Beleive The Hype : They displayed great teamwork , cempetence & executed well while keeping USA frustrated. The only thing that killed them was the turnovers while trapped which will most likely happen to anybody playing TEAM USA. Another great game which proves USA ball is slightly overhyped & now there is no doubt in my mind this Team USA would have NEVER beat the original Dream Team. Ball On !!!

  • the truth

^^Don’t forget this is just one game

  • Big Mike

how interesting that in all this people find a way to hate on lebron

    #whatgamewereyouwatching?
