Report: Brian Scalabrine to Join Chicago Bulls’ Coaching Staff

Eleven-year NBA veteran Brian Scalabrine, who just a few weeks ago said he wasn’t ready to call it a career, will reportedly join Tom Thibodeau’s coaching staff for the upcoming season. Longtime SLAM writer Aggrey Sam broke the news, and has more details, via CSNChicago.com: “Since former Bulls assistant coach Rick Brunson departed for a position with the Charlotte Bobcats in the offseason, the organization has had an opening and while the likes of former Magic assistant Steve Clifford was considered–the member of Stan Van Gundy’s staff in Orlando recently accepted a job with the Lakers, where he’ll be reunited with All-Star center Dwight Howard–it appears that Scalabrine is now a front-runner for the spot. Though the popular reserve forward averaged a modest 1.1 points per game in just over 200 minutes in his two-year stint in Chicago, his knowledge of the game is highly regarded, his relationship with Thibodeau goes back to their days together in Boston and at only 34 years old, fresh off an 11-year NBA career and still active enough to bang bodies with current players, his transition to the coaching ranks has the potential to be a seamless one.”

Scal must have “naked pictures of God or something” He “played” and 11 years routinely taking up roster spots of more talented players and now he’s gonna leapfrog tons of other coaches, busting their butts on the lower ranks, into an assistants job. Smh

Good for white mamba, seems like a good guy, and has great knowledge of the game, definitely a nice addition to the coaching staff, also will help in the locker room

Nooo! But he’s still got game!

  • Hursty

He was part of some solid NJ teams as well. A great career when you consider the physical traits he has. Never that fast or strong. Worked extremely hard with what he was given, and made the most of it.

I so hope that was really Scal.

I think a more reasonable answer is that he knows a lot about being a good teammate – things you don’t know, therefore don’t understand.
