LeBron James Thinks the Miami Heat Can Be ‘a lot better’

LeBron wouldn’t go as far as teammate Chris Bosh did in claiming that the Miami Heat are trying to create a dynasty, but James is convinced that the defending champs can become a significantly better squad this season. Per the AP: “It’s scary to see, to look in our locker room today and say that we can be better than we were this past season,’ James said. ‘Are we better right now than we were just a couple months ago? Of course not. But we have the potential to be better. We have the potential to be a lot better. That is scary.’ [...] ‘He’s not on cruise control, no,’ Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said when asked about James. ‘He’s as driven a professional as I’ve been around. He understands not only his legacy, but team legacy and the opportunity that this team and organization has. And he savors that. He’s the ultimate competitor.’”

I’m so tired of the legacy can we worry about that after your career is over. I do hope to see Miami win it all next couple of seasons

where the bulls at big guy?

  • rainman

however much better you guys think LeBron is gonna get better, is probably going to be negated by Wade declining. So no, i dont think (apart from depending how much their new aqusitons pan out, and even then, not ” A LOT” better they wont be) they’ll be A LOT better.

  • danpowers

i really hope that he is wrong , otherwise the nba will get very boring and they could already hand the heat their next 3 or 4 rings lol

  • pposse

wtf all of a sudden in 1 year lebron seems to be saying all the right things. His visions are starting to become reality

  • MUBWAR

that’s cool n all but i just wanna some gr8 basketball. hopefully the heat alongside the thunder and lakers could make this a season for the ages

  • SirGrey

Spoelstra is the hype man for the Heat.

  • Slick Ric

Where all these fake ass heat fans come from……….

  • Slick Ric

Still chilling with our six championships and the best player ever to play the game who lebron(1-2 in the finals btw, Woohoo) the choker should never be mentioned in the same sentence with…………….

  • Slick Ric

Bron bron doesn’t have the heart nor will to accomplish something as challenging as a dynasty. The dude choked in the 2011 finals with Wade killing and Bosh who’s still a top 20 talent. Lebron was able to take advantage of the inexperienced thunder last seasons, props to him for doing so. But if anybody’s going to start a dynasty, its going to be the thunder. The Lakers however look to be the top team this season if Dwight can comeback fully healed from that back injury.

  • shockexchange

Armed with the Shock Exchange’s “LeBron Rules … Keys to Stopping LeBron James,” the sky is the limit.

  • roscoe

Bron bron will bring it, but im not so sure his surrounding cast is going to this year.
imo the shortened season benefited MIA & OKC and MIA’s 2012 title has a big @ss asterik.

  • Max

    Why?

  • Mo

Who brags about how many franchise championships a team has when talking about the up and coming season? Saying the bulls has 6 ships, ok and? The lakers and Celtics has triple that amount. Dude asked u where the bulls at? In regards to THIS YEAR. And you go back to 6 championships and bringing up MJ? That’s a weak comback.

  • Taylor

Come on dude, spare me with the whole “anti-LeBron” rant. U don’t overcome eberything LeBron has overcame without having “HEART!” Especially what happened n the finals vs the Mavs. I’ll give u that. Why couldn’t it just be that LeBron won a championship last year and leave it at that? U had to give a back handed compliment by saying he took advantage of the thunder’s inexperience. The fact is the thunder were the best team out of the west. The beat the more “experienced” teams. So did Jordan do the same and “just take advantage” of the the team’s inexperience when he won his ships? It was Portland’s, Phoenix, Utah, and Seattle’s first time to the finals as well. Come on now. Let’s see if OKC keeps harden B4 all the dynasty talk.

  • Datkid

yeah it’s nice that you guys were unstoppable 16 years ago buddy. but right now your team is gutted, your star player is injured and all you can do is watch MJ in the 90s on VHS and cry. oh and btw nobody mentioned anything about lebron being in the same sentence as MJ stop being such a colossal fuck boy.

  • Datkid

he doesn’t have heart huh? did you watch the playoffs last year? you’re one bitter old man Ric.

  • roscoe

    because the dog don’t hunt.

  • RKJ92

Miami’s title deff doesnt have a huge asterik on it… It was grueling for EVERY team and Miami also didnt even play with a fully healthy roster because of that.. It was anyones championship to win bro dont even be like that.

  • The Philosopher

It will be a challenge for the Heat to repeat.
But The King is my guy.
My money is with him and his men.
Backup money is with the Lakers.
Third string money is with the Thunder.

  • danpowers

dont gamble dude, thats jus a sign of weak character

  • danpowers

you sir are a moron and just spoil that great artists heritage by using his name

  • Scal

SCALABRINE NEEEDS TO BE FEATURED ON SLAM SPREAD THE WORD

  • Slick Ric

First of all, know what you speak, The Blazers had made it to the finals two years prior to facing the Bulls. Mike beat the VERY experienced lakers his first time winning a championship(way to exclude that guy). He beat Utah twice, so you cant use that argument either. If you watched the game, you would see all the defensive mistakes OKC made guarding the heat. Mark Cuban eluded to it when on first take that the thunder didn’t follow anything the mavericks had done the previous year to defeat them. Too many lebron nut huggers….

  • Slick Ric

I’m not old…..One playoff run eliminates all the times he has given up or choked? SMH

  • Slick Ric

I speak the truth, If I’m a moron for that…… *shrug*

  • Slick Ric

Nobody has ever tried to compare Lebron to MJ? OOOK…………. Its more than nice buddy, something lebron will never get the chance to feel, that mental midget.

  • danpowers

your truth is a strange truth man ;)

  • Max

    Indeed

  • RKJ92

    The fuck?? Lol!

  • RKJ92

Well they only added to their championship Team without losing any major pieces so it’s not like they can get worse IMO this is all riding on how Spolestra uses his lineups correctly the heat have added Allen, Lewis, and Harrelson question now is how is coach Spo going to add these 2 and a half players in the rotation without effecting the chemistry lol! (jokes aside Harrelson is actually pretty solid in limited minute’s).

  • danpowers

grandpa was jus speading some wisdom lol

  • RKJ92

Grandson says ride with philosopher! Cuz all dudes predictions for this coming year are correct.. I’d put straight money on the Heat, then Lakers, and finally okc in that order, the only way Lakers lose to okc is a significant injury on that old ass roster.

  • Datkid

nice picture, i’m sure it hasn’t been used to make the same joke a million times. nobody on this thread tried to compare lebron to MJ stop reacting to imaginary criticism you little girl. and 2 finals appearances in 2 years is a dynasty FYI

  • Datkid

yes… and yes. nobody wins it all every time they’re in the playoffs SMH

  • pposse

you cant put money your money on all three teams..thats a dumb idea. All of your bets will get washed and you break even if you do that.

  • The Philosopher

    Parlay(s), my dear Watson…

  • youdumb

slick ric is a jive ass turkey

  • Slick Ric

Little girl? I know you wouldn’t say that to my face keyboard tough guy. You’re an idiot if you consider making it to the finals two years in a row a dynasty, especially since lebron choked the first time and they lost.

  • Slick Ric

This would of hurt me if we were living in the 70′s man. lol

  • Tyreedaniels4@gmail.com

Uh no it doesn’t …Its not like he has had one playoff run where he choked or gave up….he has a history of it. One chip against the inexperienced thunder does not make up for that.

  • Slick Ric

You people know this is truth…..Lebron took advantage of the inexperience of the thunders stars. The thunders defense was predictable and they didn’t try not one scheme the Mavericks used to strike fear in lebron heart and make him choke.

  • danpowers

    facepalm

  • Datkid

first of all if you’re in the finals twice in 2 years and are HEAVILY favored to make it a 3rd time you can be considered a dynasty. you’re really gonna say “you wouldn’t say that to my face” and then call ME a keyboard tough guy? Listen up princess, you’re on the internet nobody is scared of you, and you don’t want these problems regardless

  • Datkid

@bd7c130885c2f66acb63d8ec2e6a2125:disqus let’s be perfectly clear tho slick ricky martin, I have no problem saying this to your face, spitting in your eye, and then slapping the gums outta your mouth. go jerk off to derrick rose highlights in your throwback jersey and stop trying to get hard body on the internet.

  • Datkid

yeah it happened once in cleaveland and once in miami against Dallas. twice out of the 9 times the guy has been to the playoffs. I guess he really has a history of choking you jackass. don’t let the last 2 regular seasons fool you lil guy. Lebron doesn’t choke as consistently as you think.

  • Slick Ric

He abandoned his hometown to go to a team thats stacked because he couldn’t deal with the pressure of lifting up that team and its town dude….give it up, he doesn’t have nowhere near the heart as you’re trying to insinuate. If he had heart and was a true champion, he would of looked at it as a worthy challenge.

  • Slick Ric

I can almost guarantee you wouldn’t have the heart to sir….Who’s talking hard? You? sounding real tough about what you would do over the computer you imbecile. I see you’re infatuated with the gay jokes, somebody showing their insecurities a lil bit about who they really are? Don’t project your insecurities on to me chump… I just see things for what it is, Lebron had everything go his way this season, he faced an inexperienced team in the finals who weren’t smart enough to study the tape of what worked for the mavericks and there were virtually no adjustments made. Wheres am I wrong at? sensitive ass……..

  • Slick Ric

I’m done with you, a dynasty is not making it to the finals twice you moron……Who cares if their the favorites, what does that mean? Nobody calls the rockets or Pistons of the 90′s a dynasty and they both won twice while the pistons were able to make it three straight years to the finals losing once…………..Its not a dynasty dude.

  • Datkid

you can’t guarantee shit you fuckass bitch. the joke fit with your name, which much your commenting skills is itself a joke. nobody is worried about you lil homie and I’d love to prove it to you. and btw Lebron can’t be guarded the way he was against the mavs. He’s improved every facet of his game, especially from the post to the point that now he would pick them apart. but you’re too busy sniffing D.rose’s laundry to see that.

  • Datkid

His hometown never gave him the proper pieces or the proper personnel. NOBODY could win with those rosters. Not MJ, not Magic, Not Bird, NOBODY. go back and watch those playoff games. You can’t tell me he’s not trying when he puts up 40-10-10 on 50% shooting while his teammates just stand around. Lebron is an incredibly gifted human being, but he is not a god.

  • Datkid

I would consider the pistons a dynasty but whatever dog. and its’ not a dynasty…. YET.
