Derrick Rose Believes He’ll Be a Better Player When He Returns

Chicago Bulls fans would be thrilled if Derrick Rose was simply able to bounce back and be healthy following a devastating knee injury. According to Rose, though, he’s aiming much higher. Per the Chicago Tribune: “In two weeks, Derrick Rose said he will begin cutting drills, another hurdle in his rehabilitation from surgery to repair the torn left anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. Rose said the tedious process has taught him patience, although some of his comments suggested he hasn’t mastered that learning curve. ‘I can’t wait to get back on the court to see what I’m going to do,’ Rose said. ‘I don’t know how I’m going to play. I don’t know what’s going to be new about my game. It’s just going to be exciting for everybody to see. I’m going to be a better player. My legs have never been this strong before. My upper body has never been this strong before. My core has never been this strong before. I’m going to see where it takes me.’ The organization made clear Rose would be protected from daily questioning about the injury. Rose said he shifted his rehab efforts back to the Berto Center from California when teammates returned in early September for voluntary workouts to demonstrate leadership and ensure them he would be OK.”

I think he will be. He had surgery months after Rubio and he’s much further along in his recovery. He says his lower body is stronger as well as his upper body. He’s running and jumping. Cutting in a few weeks. I see a return like Adrian Peterson given his ridiculous athletic ability. I just hope he doesn’t rush himself. Hopefully Boozer becomes that 20/10 guy he was in Utah while Rose is out. That way, whenever he returns, he’ll actually have a 2nd star player to play with the way it was supposed to be when they signed Boozer in the summer of 2010. Rose with a much better jumpshot is scary for every team not named the Miami Heat.

Once he forgets about it when he’s on the court he’ll be fine. And not having the ability to run as fast will probably freak him out a bit. At least I remember not being able to run past people like I use too but again I didnt have the best doctors and rehab working with me everyday.

ACL injuries are definitely not as debilitating as they were even 15 years ago

Rose with a better jump shot is scary for any team. I concur with everything else though.

He will definitely come back with a better all around game. I can’t wait to see what the new and improved Derrick Rose has to offer!

There’s only one team that would be better than Chicago regardless of how great Rose is. That’s why I only mentioned Miami.
