Derrick Rose Willing to Sit Out Season if Knee Not Ready

It has been suggested that Derrick Rose shouldn’t play at all this season, giving his surgically-repaired left knee a chance to fully heal. Rose says that he’s willing to consider the option, if he must. Per ESPN (via PBT): “Everybody has their own opinions,’ Rose said. ‘When the time comes I just have to be ready and prove to the people here that I am ready to play. Who knows when that time is? If it’s all year I might wait the whole year, so what? If I come back at the All-Star (break), so what? If anything, I think I’ve learned it’s going to help me with my patience. I think I’m way more patient.’”

As long as he comes back 100. thats all that matters

Thanks, this means if he does come back it’ll genuinely be time.

    Derrick Rose, the Stoic.

  • 1982

The only reason this is unacceptable is because Slam keeps autoplaying that damn commercial on every page load.

cosign 1982; looks like Adidas jumped the gun on the comeback…

  • Phil

    He’s done…

Is it even possible to recover 100% from a torn ACL?

  • Lorne

I just want him to work on his long distance and mid range shooting. He’ll most likely never regain that explosiveness but he’ll still be a good player if he works hard on his shot.

Chicago should just tank this season. that way they’d MAKE SURE Rose was fully healed and could rebuild w/ the draft.

He better sit out the season or play in the playoff where it matters..just work on his shot and be patient..longer he waits the better his knee for years to come..bulls need 100% rose anyway..less than that better ask reserve to play..no risk

even without Rose they still have way too good of a team to tank

Its so annoying to hear people say oh just tank the season Bulls and just got that lottery pick…HUH???? They went like 20-10 (guessing cuz I dont remember) after he got injured last year playing without him. They got 2 top 50 players in NOah and Deng, and one that should be top 50 in Boozer….they also have a coach that knows the recipe for regular season wins…Defense! And even though they got rid of the “bench mob” they got a much cheaper version of the same product, that in same ways is better. The Bulls will be fine next year until Rose comes back. If he comes back in like March they will probably be chillin in like the 4-6 spot and then move up 1 or 2 spots before the playoffs….who knows…maybe they can make a run

Have you seen Adrian Peterson this season?

Even if he recovers completely before the season is over, I don’t know if I’d play him. Especially if he will have to come back and carry their offense almost by himself again. Too much for him to try to do even when he’s healthy. The only way I’d put him in is if they could get a seed that would have them avoid Miami until the Conference Finals.

i doubt he will sit out the entire season. I have seen this interview with Rachel Nichols. D rose says he is even working out at home after working out with the trainers, he is determined, and will come back when he is fully healed, which is looking like it will happen sooner than later. He said he didn’t start to cut yet, but the way he said it is like he is going to start that within the next month. I say come back when your fully ready, but im thinking its goinna be sooner rather than later

  • abcde12345

well that sucks for people who draft and stashed him on their fantasy teams lol

  • Datkid

no they’re not. they can’t compete w/ the heat right now, and there is NO benefit to making rose play. wait until you’re absolutely sure he’s healed and rebuild through the draft

  • Datkid

that team w/o Rose that you swear is so good got their heads knocked off by philly. There is no benefit to going hard this season. Just tank for a good draft pick. the spurs did it to get TD and the bulls did it to get rose. there’s no shame in it.

  • robb

Sh*t, Adidas better start thinking more stuff for that return campaign.

  • SinJah

Awesome decision…. that shows that you are taking care of yourself and also don’t let yourself push into a pool of sharks that wait to see you bleed on the court to eat you alive… been there done it,so go back in the training room, work on your health till you on 100% and then come back with so much fire that all the fire fighters in the world can’t stop you… i wish you a Great recovery, from the other side of the atlantic…
