Mavs Reportedly Replacing Delonte West With Eddy Curry

Earlier today, the Mavs suspended guard Delonte West indefinitely, and the Dallas Morning News is reporting that West will likely be released from the team shortly. With the empty roster space, Dallas will reportedly scoop up Eddy Curry: “The Mavericks wasted no time filling a need – and the roster spot that will be created when Delonte West is waived – by putting in a waiver claim for veteran NBA center Eddy Curry, a source said. The deadline for finalizing the 15-man roster that will start the season is Monday. The Mavericks have until then to waive West, who is suspended from the team for the time being. … By signing Curry, the Mavericks will have a 16-player roster. But they are expected to jettison West, either by cutting him or finding a willing trade partner, before Monday’s roster deadline. Curry was waived by the Spurs on Tuesday.”

Delonte West to the Lakers for Steve Blake

  • JML-G

Cuban probably thinks if one ex-Bulls loser center could become top 3 centers in the league and bring Dallas to the chip, another one will too

  • J Byrne

Are you kidding? Delonte was so poorly used by mike in cleveland it’s not funny. He barely played him, yet still watched mo ‘regular season’ Williams do nothing every playoff series

Guess this makes the Mav’s true heavy weight contenders out west. Cudos to Cuban for making the heavy decisions, this really gives the Mavericks a sizeable advantage up front.

  • Perry the PlatyPteranodon

Jordan for sure, Cuban could try and play all the chips but now Curry would just eat em’.

correction, not “NBA Center” Eddy Curry, “NBA Championship”, Eddy Curry. *rolls eyes*

Eddy Curry actually looked to be in great physical shape, when I watched him ths pre season. Hope he succeeds.

  • Mariano

Looked great on offense in the pre-season but looked HORRIBLE on defense. If the Spurs (who are in GREAT need of a big center) didn’t pick him up, there must be a reason.

There’s always a job for tall guys who can jog and eat pie at the same time.

    Man Curry sure is fat.

this will be great fun for the guys in the locker room lol (for the younger ones: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Eddy-Curry-slapped-with-bizarre-sex-harassment-s?urn=nba,133934 )

… Why do teams continually think they’re going to be the ones who change Eddy Curry? They’d all be so much better off signing a young, hungry undrafted rookie or a player who went undrafted and played overseas. I still can’t believe Scotty Hopson, David Lighty or William Buford never got a chance at the NBA level, yet Eddy Curry gets 1,000,000 chances to stop being an overweight malcontent and never shows anything. Curry will probably be just good enough to take away any and all playing time from Bernard James. Ugh… NBA GM’s *rolls eyes*

  • JackPackage

Also, Delonte West is one of those players I would ALWAYS take a chance on. He actually gives a crap, his problems stem from a genuine illness and well, he actually cares about winning/playing his hardest… Probably too much. Delonte West is a mother F*****… Literally and figuratively.

  • Mike From Spain

for a second I imagined Eddy Curry playing in a guard spot LOL

i guess he wont be sing “hot sauce in my bag!!! hot sauce in my bag!!!”
