NBA Players React to the First Presidential Debate

A tweetcap.

Who said professional athletes can’t get political? During Wednesday night’s presidential debate, plenty of NBA players took to Twitter with their thoughts of the Barack Obama-Mitt Romney verbal battle. Check ‘em all out in the gallery above.

    Very ignorant Tyshawn Taylor smh

  • JustinBAR

Spencer Hawes is gonna get at least 12 nutshots this season if Romney wins

  • KipSmithers

    Jorts and Boogie Cousins are.

If Romney had talked over Obama and the moderator 2-3 times, he would come across as somebody who might want to make a point. But because he kept on and on doing it, he came across as the office jerk who just likes to talk over people when they know they can’t win an argument.
Plus, the factcheckers are going CRAZY with what Romney has said tonight. This could all turn around in 48 hours.

Most interesting thing was learning there’s a 7 footer with a Kinect

  • KipSmithers

As for Obama looking tired, he did say it was his am Michelle’s anniversary. Maybe they were doing a certain something and he was out of energy?

Does Hasheem Thabeet live inside a tent?

  • DeeDaw

The owners disagree with that statement.

i am a little concerned since i saw this debate. why the hell is obama so passive? i just hope that there are not enough morons in the usa to elect republicans back into the white house. us americans, the worlds hopes are on you to be smart and do the right thing for yourselves and the rest of the world.

  • HOOSIER4LIFE

sad seeing all these uninformed athletes voting for a guy because of his skin color. until he came along they did not give a shit.

I really think Obama thought he was going to be debating the Cookie Monster, instead of a well polished liar. Which is what Romney was (and for good reason) during this debate. There are 3 more coming, I doubt Obama is this ill-prepared next time. he better be if he wants to save face, at least.

  • danpowers

shouldnt have been news to him as romney wasnt the first republican he had to deal with. i mean, expecially republicans during the last few decades are (and have to be) liars. the most paradox and funny thing about mankind is also, that especially those who suffer from conservative / right wing politicians the most (among other social groups, sure), are often the ones supporting them the most such as working class, white trash class, soldiers, etc. it is almost funny seeing a redneck guy complaining about obama selling out “his” country to foreigners, “giving all the money to the poor”, and claiming he needs a republican president while obama is the best thing that could happen to him and romney the worst.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

i mean i don’t know much about politics but i can tell when someone is or isn’t prepared, and i can fact check.. So i know Obama wasn’t prepared for that debate – imo, because really, Romney has looked like the most oblivious Republican in recent memory (my memory). And I know Romney lied a bunch, but did it in an organized fashion that couldn’t be immediately disproved by his under prepared opponent.

  • danpowers

true true. i know that the us-mentality is about competition but i highly doubt political competition like a tv duel makes any sense exactly because of that. very important things are at stake and how you prepare for a debate is nothing but a little soft skill. political content is more important because this is what will actually impact some billions of lifes. not how somebody is able to “sell” political content ON FUCKING TV lol.
political campaigns shouldnt be about criticising the other side but just offering and explaining the own programme and substance.

romney was making alot of empty promises that couldnt be acomplished economicly by itselfes but also directly suspend/eliminate each other. if candidates only offer their programme and show how they are going to accomplish these goals, maybe judged by a jury of experts coming out of economic, social and political sciences wrapped up for the public would make much more sense. i highly doubt that then a tragedy like the bush administrations, that caused millions of dead bodies and world wide economical and ecological (extra-)damage, would have haunted mankind lol.

you seem pretty well informed on this topic, please enlighten me on this, why is it viewed that Romney walked away from the debate the clear victor, without actually revealing any aspect of his plan? other than maybe a few grandiose ideas?

  • danpowers

this is beyond my understanding as well and also the reason why i dont like debates like this before elections. i really dont get obamas (non)reaction. even i wouldve had better arguments against romney than obama brought up. and i just got like the rhetorical skills of obamas left index finger (at best).

  • danpowers

yes man, stickwithbasketball and please spare us with bullshit comments like this one. thanks

  • HOOSIER4LIFE

not a bs comment sadly its the truth. i mean i can see wanting to be part of history but thats not quite right. you should vote for a candidate based on what you think they can do to help OUR country not because they are black, white or latino rich or poor gay or straight etc. which i’m guessing is what you do. even if i do not agree with your values i can respect the fact that you vote for your candidate because you think they will be a better leader for our country.

  • danpowers

well then just take it as a positive coincidence that the candidate who happens to be somehow labeled as black is the best choice for your country. all that race talk is a big bunch of bullshit anyway like the whole idea of ethnicity (btw not even in science ppl know what that actually means) is in general. “othering” is the keyword and goes hand in hand with stupid trash like patriotism or religion which just helps to seperate more people than it connects. thats why i reacted in that way to your comment, it may not be your fault as i doubt that you could know better but whenever i get confronted with that i just react pissed off. no matter if a redneck like you, a black, latin or asian is talkin to me

  • HOOSIER4LIFE

well theres a reason soldiers do not vote democrat i know quite a few soldiers and they can not comprehend why our president would endorse killing unborn children after what they have been through. although i am a country boy, my teammates and friends would find it hilarious that you label me racist. my dad is a union pipefitter so i like obama’s stance on jobs better but his restriction of religious freedom to some religions and the fact that he condones killing human beings if they are in any way inconvenient makes it impossible for me to vote for him, so i have to choose the lesser of two evils.

  • danpowers

do u know which ppl suffer from republicans the most? soldiers, working class (white trash n workers included), peasants. you know that he was forced to declare this law you are referring here to “that he condones killing human beings if they are in any way inconvenient” due to pressure by republicans? no?
to what r u referring to on this one? “his restriction of religious freedom to some religions”
well, actually some soldiers do vote for democrats. not all soldiers are stupid.
“although i am a country boy, my teammates and friends would find it hilarious that you label me racist” most rednicks find farting hilarious, too. doesnt make it any better ;)

  • HOOSIER4LIFE

lol he said if his daughters became pregnant and it was “inconvenient” he would encourage them to get an abortion. also i think your smart enough to know when i said hilarious i meant they would laugh at you
i have friends of pretty much every race. and i don’t know a whole lot of all white basketball teams ;)

  • danpowers

iactually thought you were referring to that law: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2074576/President-Obama-signs-law-detain-terror-suspects-indefinitely.html

you are against the right of a women to decide if they want an abortion or not? where do you live and what age are you from? the bush? medieval age? any modern educated society allows abortion for good reason. making it legal does not mean to encourage women to do so.

nice that you are not a racist. but that doesnt make it any better if you are electing a party that is actually the actually does racist policy.

and what restriction of religios freedom did you mean?

  • HOOSIER4LIFE

its not her decision its a child. (and people get pissed when we kill animals) as for racist policy. the founder of planned-parent-hood’s main goal was to kill as many black and poor people as possible. look it up.
unfortunately i will not be able to respond to you anymore because i have to get some sleep. i have basketball practice tomorrow. also i find it funny how dems always are on the computer commenting on everything. try getting off the computer and look for a job. or if you have a job get some friends. haha just saw your link. lol thats funny no i was not reffering to that law. : )

  • danpowers

if you put it like this you could also argue that using a condom meant killing children you lil moron. legal abortion is usually restricted allowing abortion only until an extent where the fetus just consists of body cells without an own mind, working brain, etc and are nothing but the woman’s cells and body.

thanks for caring but ive got a nice job that allows me to go online from time to time ;) the internet is also open to the whole world and there are things like different time zones so it aint the same time of the day in all parts of the world at the same time. crazy hm?

btw: what about playing less basketball and try to get some more education instead? just a thought…
