Brandon Jennings is ‘Auditioning’ for Other Teams This Season

by Marcel Mutoni@marcel_mutoni

The Milwaukee Bucks and point guard Brandon Jennings have led an uneasy co-existence through four seasons. And after the Bucks elected not to sign Jennings to an extension, he sees the writing on the wall.

Brandon Jennings is understandably disappointed that he doesn’t have a new deal, and tells the local press that he will be playing this season with the goal of showing other teams around the NBA that he’s worthy of a big contract.

From the Journal Sentinel:

“I think I just have to play basketball, come here every day and work hard,” Jennings said. “At the end of the day I’m still under contract with the Milwaukee Bucks. I’m still going to get paid so I have to go out there and perform. Just take it for what it is.”

“I’m going to just play this year out and do what I have to do here,” Jennings said. “The main goal is still trying to win, still trying to make the playoffs. Then I’ll be able to make my own decision. The main thing is, I could say I’m kind of auditioning for other teams, too. The fact if they see what I can do, what I can bring to the table this year for the Bucks, anything can happen in the summertime. Now I’m just going to take it for what it is and ball out, man. Take this as it’s my rookie year again. Take it that I’m the fresh meat that nobody’s ever seen play.”

Jennings goes on to admit that he feels added motivation to prove that he deserves a raise similar to that of other players in the 2009 Draft class. This is a big year for the Bucks’ point guard, as he looks to take his game to the next level.

As a restricted free agent next summer, the Milwaukee Bucks will have the ability to match any offer that Brandon Jennings gets on the market.

NO SHlT THIS GUY WANTS TO LEAVE…..THEY HAVE MONTA AND BJ??
    -
THATS LIKE HAVING MELO AND J.R ON AT THE SAME TIME

  • ByAnyMeansNecessary

He’s right. People might not like the fact that he said it. But he’s right.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

well isn’t this surprising? ——> (uhm, no, it isn’t.)

  • Cameron

A better comparison would be one that already happened…..Melo and A.I. And why do you always type with caps lock on?

  • Showtime

So the best pg in the 09 draft & the rookie of the year that year..couldn’t get any extension but everyone else did??? demar ,mr. glass ankles did??

  • http://twitter.com/Jzakoni Verified Account

this boy thinks he’s a star. smh especially when he’s always gets lit up by 2nd rate PG

  • http://twitter.com/Jzakoni Verified Account

BEST PG in his class!?! you must not watch a lot of basketball bruh… jrue holiday, ty lawson, stephen curry, tyreke evans & ricky rubio. don’t let me catch you around here posting nonsense bruh

  • http://www.reverbnation.com/savagemuzicgroup T-Ray

Hopefully this translates to good fantasy numbers for me. Unfortunately drafted him when my internet connection went out just as my pick came lol

  • LeroyShonuff

Soo who will milwaukee get to replace him??? Even with all the injuries they have had he has atleast kept them respectable. He should of got an extension in the Lawson range. Bo young pg will sign there and whoever they draft will take time to develop thus adding on more losing season.. But he’s a rfa this summer anyway, let’s see what happens…

  • bike

Guy talks too much. Can’t blame Bucks for letting him walk.

  • Redd

If you ask me he’d be a nice fit in Denver.

  • http://twitter.com/bjollz Björn Atli Davíðsson

Jennings only shoots around 40% from the field through his career and only averages about 5.5 assists. Other than that, he’s got the makings of an all-star. lol don’t get me wrong though, I’m a fan of his. It’s just the list of NBA teams in need of a shoot first PG is short and he doesn’t bring much to the table besides “swag”.

  • RKJ92

Ya.. Behind Lawson… YOUR STHMARTTTTT -.-

  • timbo slice

to be real BJ has the tools to compete, but he does need to grow a lot, when the bucks picked up monta i think that may have put a stunt on that growth in BJs eyes because it didnt exactly show that the organization had faith in his abilities, he’ll get it together though……..eventually

  • spit hot fiyah

    ownership!

  • spit hot fiyah

this should be great for team chemistry

  • elmaar

shoot first, small, no defense, talks a lot.

pg qualities that does not translate into winning.
as of now, if on a contending team, he is a sixth man to me.

  • http://twitter.com/Jzakoni Verified Account

    hahahahaha

  • http://twitter.com/Jzakoni Verified Account

    hahah u know whats up!

  • http://twitter.com/Jzakoni Verified Account

josh shelby make look like a FOOOL!

  • http://twitter.com/Jzakoni Verified Account

this boy is bad for any team. crybaby too

  • showtime

1rst all bruh, been on slam for years, if u read i was talking about bj & the rook of the year which was reke havoc… Yes i kno who was in that class but i take jennings over ever body else.. Curry is skilled but a wet spot on the floor away from injury reserve. holiday haha.. lawson is decent only person i forgot about is rubio but still take jennings . i still relating how everybody else got paid & they didn’t which is strange

  • http://twitter.com/Jzakoni Verified Account

BRUH, i been having a subscription since i was 10, the marbury & garnett days, so cut all that slam for years nonsense. BJ’s hasn’t been helpful to a team winning. he talks sh!t about other players, who always leave him in the dust.. i.e Kobe, Lebron, granger, rubio, shelby, durant.

he talks to much, his work ethic is terrible. BJ is just a street baller from compton.

open up & read those magazines, learn a bit about basketball BRUH

  • Wet

I though if a team didn’t offer you an extension, you weren’t a RFA.

  • Showtime

who are these 2nd rate pg’s that you speak of that light him up cause the kid avg 18…& getting allstar consideration till he got hurt and the bucks started tanking??

  • http://twitter.com/Jzakoni Verified Account

Lin. & all star consideration?! lol a lot of people get that. gtfoh

why don’t you open up & read some of those Slam magazines. you might learn a lil bit about basketball bruh,

  • zen garden

    dude is ok..just ok

  • http://www.facebook.com/andrew.kelleher.1610 Andrew Kelleher

You’ve got to be kidding me taking Jennings over all of them. It’s not even close. Every single one of those other point guards has actually made their team somewhat relevant.

  • http://www.facebook.com/andrew.kelleher.1610 Andrew Kelleher

Who is he getting all-star consideration from? He doesn’t make the playoffs, nobody goes to games saying “hey, I get to go see Brandon Jennings tonight”, and no network wants to put him or his games on national T.V.

  • shockexchange

    That dog don’t hunt …

  • Showtime

Im going 2 answer both your statements here.. i cause i really dont have time to go back. Yes like i said before i would take Bj before the rest. Lets play elimination game okay..you & verified pay close attention. Curry is skill but cant stay on the floor(scratch), Demar(scratch), reke my bio(but jumper hasn’t developed so Scratch) Holiday( gives 13 points & 4 assists so scratch)Jordan hill (scratch), john flynn(scratch) thabeet (useless so scratch) lawson gives u 16 and 6 bj gives 19 and 5.5 ( so i scratch lawson) So now rubio major knee surgery no jumper(scratch). So of all the kids that got paid from 09 lottery i would take young money over everyone no name harden or blake.

  • Lynx

And he went right back at him, dont forget that, Jennings won the game and scored more on him

  • http://twitter.com/Jzakoni Verified Account

i wouldn’t take jennings. u must be talking to the jenning supporter showtime

  • Madubbs

He upset his boiii Derozan got 40mil

  • http://twitter.com/Jzakoni Verified Account

    Preach!

  • Redd

Yea cause him playing with Andre Miller made no sense either? Denver ran Billups & AI too dummy.

  • Matt

    did tyreke get an extension?

  • spit hot fiyah

    nope

  • FLIGHT 9

Guy has talent. That is just about it. A point guard who fires shot like there is no tomorrow. Cmon dude you should be playing in China perhaps?

  • RKJ92

    a) cuz Miller is old and doesnt have a huge contract or want a tonne of money at this stage in his career — And b) How did AI & Billups turn out even WITH Carmelo too.. You just sound more and more stupid dude…

  • Jeff

I think Jennings is a capable player, but he will never be a star. I see Jennings as a perennial traveller in the NBA. These four seasons in Milwaukee will the longest he settles down anywhere. There’ll always be a handful if teams in need of a shot-first PG to come of the bench and add a little offence, and I think BJ will fill that void for many years to come.

    Next stop: Lakers. lol

  • http://twitter.com/jay258064 jay jay

Both of u dum ass hell bills and A I never played together

  • 3pointlai

I understand the nba is a business but I really dislike this guy. His lack of production does not deserve the fat contract he desires.

  • http://twitter.com/Jzakoni Verified Account

I rather woulda seen him on the Knicks roster

  • RJ

    He’s 22 yrs old. He’s worth keeping.

  • Redd

2nd in the west. There’s a reason you’re a Raptors fan trying to fit into an American sport. Dummy.

  • Jimmy

i bet orlando signs him next summer

  • that1guy

    Send him to the knicks

  • Beck934

I like stupid girls. You fit the bill.
