Brandon Roy to Miss a Month Following Knee Surgery

The Minnesota Timberwolves expect to be without Brandon Roy for about a month, after the veteran guard underwent successful right knee surgery. From the Star Tribune: “Team doctor David Fischer performed the surgery in Bloomington. The Wolves offered no other details about an exploratory operation intended to clean up his right knee and perhaps give him peace of mind. He’ll miss, of course, what was supposed to be his return to Portland and the Rose Garden — where he played his first five NBA seasons — on Friday. Rick Adelman didn’t sound certain if this was just a pause in Roy’s comeback or if it’s something much more. ‘From the very start you knew it was going to be up and down,’ he said before [Monday's] surgery. ‘It’s too bad it’s this. But I think he feels like this is worth doing, making sure everything’s all right. You just have to go with it and hopefully when it’s over with, he’ll be able to come back.’”

Minnesota signing Roy was a huge mistake from the on set and there were multiple teams who were foolish enough to show interest in him during the off season with bad knees and all. Meanwhile other players like McGrady and especially Iverson get no training camp invites nor contract offers, and Iverson was still averaging double figures during the last couple seasons depsite not being at his best physically nor mentally.
