Dwight Howard Unconcerned About Hurting Friendship With Deron Williams

Despite having talked about playing together for years, it never did happen for Deron Williams and Dwight Howard. And if D-Will harbors any bad feelings about it, then that’s just too bad, according to Howard. (Deron, for his part, says he’s happy for Dwight.) Per the NY Daily News: “It’s my life so if he’s upset because I made a decision for me, so be it,’ Howard said. ‘If he doesn’t want to be friends because I’m on another team, then so be it. There’s no need to smooth things over.’ The two All-Stars plotted to play together in Brooklyn, but Howard essentially killed that possibility by waiving his right to become a free agent last March. Howard has said the decision was based on his desire to keep everybody happy, even though it forfeited his opportunity to sign with the Nets in the summer. Instead, Howard was dealt in August from the Magic to the Lakers, who host the Nets on Tuesday. The center declined to discuss his desire to play in Brooklyn and whether it’s still alive. Howard will become a free agent in July. The Nets won’t have the cap space to sign him unless they trade most of their starting lineup. ‘I’m here now in L.A. there’s no need to talk about what could have happened. I’m happy with being here in L.A.,’ Howard said. ‘The fans have always been great here. Now that I’m on the team the fans, from Day 1, they’ve just been unbelievable to me and to this team. It really doesn’t matter at this point (why I demanded a trade to Brooklyn). There’s no need to talk about the past. I’m happy being a Laker. This is the best situation for me and what I need to move forward.’”

Who asked this gay question to Dwight?

  • spit hot fiyah

    Sounding like a real prick.

its g8t 2 hear a nba-er state that being “best friends forever” is not on his agenda. just ask who’s agenda it is to be “best friends forever”???

This doesn’t bother me solely. Just don’t act like you are a tough guy off the court when all you do is smile and play nonchalantly on the court (Although you play very well which is great). Either you play tough on the court and say things like these or you play nonchalant on the court with a big smile and stfu about friendships and not caring about hurting others feelings. I don’t believe you dwight… you need more people.

I don’t see the big deal. He answered honestly, why would he care that another man’s pissed at him for making a decision for his life? so what if they supposedly had plans, he didn’t like how it was forming and he chose to stay.

I can’t imagine it bothers Williams in the slightest – he’s always come across as a man who knows exactly what he wants, and if he’wanted to play with Dwight, it’s because he thought that’d because it would make for a winning team, not because they were best buddies. If anyone is gonna get all bent out of shape over this, it’s Howard

Dwight lately been extremely annoying even with Dwightmare ending (well, there is a chance of it returning and i truly hope it wont).. he needs to stop being goofy – at least Shaq did it right

Dwight is still a little childlike. Nothing we didn’t already know. This sounds like something a little boy would say in elementary school. “I don’t care if he doesn’t want to be friends anymore.”

I like Dwight but he comes across as fake to me. and annoying lol

  • robb

    yawn

I think this was his attempt at listening to Kobe & trying to get “edgy” but instead he sounds like a jerk. Deron didn’t even say nothing, lol.

The worse part about this is now Deron will undoubtedly have to answer questions about this before or after tonight’s game when he has more important things to do like continuing the good run his team is on. He may end up being thankful that Dwight didn’t end up in Brooklyn. I like how he told Billy King to not wait on Dwight during the free agency period knowing that if they did wait too long, other good players would sign elsewhere. He also made a good decision to stay in Brooklyn after seeing that Dallas wouldn’t be able to put any more good pieces around he and Dirk because they didn’t have the money.

Not sure why people think he’s acting childlike or being a jerk, he’s just saying it like it is. Why should he care if DWill is mad? If anything it’s Deron that’s being a bit childlike here, isn’t it?
