Steve Blake to Miss 6-8 Weeks Following Surgery

Los Angeles Lakers point guards continue to drop like flies: Steve Nash doesn’t know when he’ll be back, and now backup Steve Blake will miss the next 6-8 weeks after he goes under the knife (Blake was originally diagnosed with the abdominal strain on November 12 and the injury has caused him to miss the last 10 games.) From the team’s Twitter page: “Steve Blake will undergo laproscopic surgery to repair a torn abdominal muscle. It is expected that Blake will miss a minimum of 6 to 8 weeks. [...] Kobe Bryant on Blake’s surgery: ‘It’s a big concern to me. Steve and I have always played well together. We’re going to miss him a lot.’”

    IVERSON?

  • LakeShow

    F*ck me.

why does this even matter? it’s not like he’s been helping. i could do what he’s been doing.

  • LakeShow

He hasn’t been helping because he hasn’t been playing.
I mean I guess he’s not that much better than Duhon, but he is an upgrade…
I know you understand how important a PG who can shoot and orchestrate the offense is a huge plus in D’Antoni’s playbook. So i’m looking for him to help.
He’s out two months, that’s quite a blow for your 2nd string PG when you don’t have a 1st string one right now either.

i understand that makes sense. i am more reacting to what i’ve been reading on twitter today. so many people saying THIS makes their rotation the worst in the league. like it wasn’t already the worst without Nash.

  • Mendel

YES!!! GREAT CALL. He has to be servicable in the D’Antoni run and gun.

  • LakeShow

LOL, no nothing HUGE has changed, it’s just hard to hear the 2nd best PG on the team is going to be out even longer than the 1st. (who is out another 3 weeks)

ehh, Kobe is really the one dominating the ball either way. Him or Duhon. I am more concerned with the health of Pau.

  • LakeShow

True, and yeah, if Pau is really that bad physically right now then that is a huge blow.
I haven’t heard much about his tendinitis, i’m not sure what to think about it.

  • roscoe

i know a lot has been made of his tendinitis, but imo since he strained or tore his hamstring a couple years back he has not been the same player.

not to mention the rumors that barcelona ladies & late nights are catching up to him.

  • i AN LEGEND

    That would be ridiculous, lmao.

  • Vince

What are the odds, the next article is entitled “Bibby hopes to sign with an NBA team” – SLAM foreshadowing?

  • bullish

    ya ok.

Of course I’m new to sarcasm so excuse me if you are really under the impression that I think I’m a f*cking NBA player lol
    Sent from right behind you.

  • Drig’r

Lakers getting all the breaks lol……..FML.

  • Rasheedionics

Bring back Smush Parker! I’m sure Kobe would be thrilled!
