Dwane Casey Rips the Refs After No Call on DeMar DeRozan

Toronto Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan was absolutely mauled in the dying moments of last night’s game in Atlanta, but the officials swallowed their whistles. Following the 93-92 loss to the Hawks, an understandably incensed Dwane Casey tore into the refs. The head coach should expect a fine from the NBA, but he’s too upset to care. Per the AP and Toronto Sun: “Casey and the Raptors wanted a foul called during the intense exchange, but no whistle meant the Hawks survived for the win. Casey charged onto the court with his arms extended, demanding an explanation for the no-call in the final seconds. He was still upset in his postgame news conference. ‘I’ve been in this league 18 years and I’ve never seen as many missed calls at the end of the game to cost us the game,’ Casey said. ‘We have good officials. Too good to miss calls and short-change these young men like that. And it’s not right.’ [...] ‘I’m tired of losing games because of missed calls at the end of games. I know the league is going to come down on me, but I don’t care,’ said a seething Casey, smoke practically billowing out of his ears. ‘These guys have fought their hearts out, played their hearts out and at the end of the game, we get cracked, (league sends out an) apology, go back to Canada.’”

nobody reminds me of Carlton Banks throwing a tantrum more than Dwane Casey throwing a tantrum.

Jumping into a, long before, stretched out arm isn’t the right way to get a foul call.

How many refs does it take to screw over the raptors?

  • TSmoove

The NBA probably has their Raptors apology letter written in the summer an just changes the date before sending.

“Sorry we blew the call and cost you another game. It may or may not happen again.

    PS: Go back to Canada.”

Raptors are getting screwed by the refs in the regular season like the Spurs get screwed by the refs in the playoffs.

That is why they have won 4 rings in the past 13 years….oh wait.

If thats what happened I’d agree, but Horford took at least 2 swings at the ball, one of which appears to hit DeMar on the arm/shoulder

Slam exaggerating again. He “casually took off” the refs

He’s got to be straight up for it to not be a foul still. I mean they still give players the call when they sweep the ball through a defenders outstretched arm before taking a jumper, so I don’t see why this wouldn’t be called on a potential game winning layup. Especially since he outworked everyone to get the rebound and wasn’t trying to initiate contact to just get foul shots.

  • Lloyd

I liked seeing this from him still. He speaks truth and it seems like he really cares about the players. My respect went up for him a little after the tirade. Preach dwane..but ain’t nothing gonna change.

Stern can’t even get their name right.

I feel sorry for DeMar and company because they’ve been playing hard all year. I can’t believe there’s some people who believe it was a good no-call; DeMar CLEARLY got whacked across the arms by Al Horford. It’s incredible that during the course of a game you can have little touch fouls being called all the time, yet when the game matters the most the refs swallow their whistles. Great example of absolutely BRUTAL NBA officiating.

    Where does Slam say this…?
