Post Up: Light Work

The Knicks beat the Spurs with ease at the Garden.

by Peter Walsh / @goinginsquad

Just ’cause:

Tito Lopez freestyles for Dr. Dre. Get familiar.

Knicks 100 (22-10), Spurs 83 (26-9)

After a boring, poor shooting first half the Knicks woke up in the third and fourth quarters to hand the fatigued Spurs a 17-point loss. New York led 67-60 after three and opened the fourth quarter with a 10-0 run capped by a Steve Novak three-pointer with ten and a half minutes left that. The Knicks continued to pour it on from there and led by as many as 25. J.R. Smith ignited the crowd with a huge dunk off an alley-oop from Pablo Prigioni (6 points, 9 dimes) to put a stamp on his current impressive individual streak. Smith has scored at least 20 points in six of the Knicks last seven games and has stepped up big time with the team plagued by injury. Right now, he is in a three-way tie for Sixth Man of the Year with Jarrett Jack and Jamal Crawford. Carmelo Anthony scored 23, Steve Novak scored 15, Tyson Chandler had a 10-point, 14-rebound double-double and New York held San Antonio to under 40 percent shooting from the field. In a bizarre turn of events, Stephen Jackson hurt his ankle early in the first quarter after tripping over a waitress who was serving NYC Mayor, Michael Bloomberg. He did not return.

Timberwolves 101 (15-14), Nuggets 97 (18-16)

J.J. Barea dropped 12 of his 17 in the fourth quarter with Kevin Love looking on from the bench with a sprained finger to lead the T’Wolves to a road victory over Denver. The game was close throughout with neither team leading by more than ten . While knotted up at 91 late in the fourth quarter, Luke Ridnour nailed a three to give Minnesota the lead. After a Denver miss on the following possession, Barea came down and nailed another three to put the T’wolves up six and ice the game. Six different Timberwolves scored in double figures including Andrei Kirilenko (14 points), Love (12 points, 17 boards) and Alexey Shved (17 points on 7-13 shooting, 5 dimes). Six Nuggets also scored in double figures including Andre Miller (who scored his 15,000th career point), Ty Lawson (16) and Andre Iguodala (14 points, 7 boards, 6 dimes).

Pete’s favorite TPU of the year! Two games—one of which he saw in person—and a Tito Lopez vid.

    Plus met the Red Rocket!!

    all of this

  • Shifty

That is probably one of the better dunks of the year, almost like a classic Carter dunk.

  • Caboose

Kevin Love plays 23 minutes, has a -12 +/- rating, shoots under 31%, and 0% from 3. But the Wolves win. Yes, I believe the Wolves are a better team when he is NOT playing. Full stop.

supposedly he has a sprained finger.

As soon as Love leaves with an injury, the Wolves turn the game around and beat a DEN team that was basically unbeatable at home. Hmmmmm

Last time you were “joking”, now your serious.
Dude, he obviously isn’t right, right now.
That’s like saying the Lakers are better without Gasol… F*ck no their not. Pau is in a rough spot just like Love currently. Battling injuries. You gotta give the dudes a chance to get back.

  • LakeShow

Happens with the Heat with D-Wade all the time.
    Heat better without D-Wade?

  • LakeShow

Was he with Bigfoot? I hear he’s elusive as the white mamba.

  • LakeShow

    God, I f*cking love Dre.

Detox me already dammit. Then I can listen to rap again. (4 years removed) That Tito guy sounded real nice though. When you got Dre impressed….. Damn.

    ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

I remember someone on here, before the season started, talking about Alexey Shved. Dude, is nice. He can play 3 positions and is a capable passer and shooter… Solid pick up by the Wolves.

this is alarmingly bad lately, a lot of it is mental.
    .
    .
with that being said, the team is still a +2 with him in the lineup. Despite the rough start.

  • allenp

They are better if he keeps shooting like he’s shooting.

  • Slick Ric

Man I wanna see Javale Mcgee reach his full potential, usually guys like him dont and its always that cliche “if he can figure it out” every year but the length, athleticism and touch he has around the basket is scary.

  • Caboose

When KLove isn’t in the game, the Wolves are a better team.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

they are +2 on the season with Kevin Love.

  • Caboose

What are they without him? By +2, do you mean in total point differential?

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

    Yeah.

  • Caboose

Aren’t they +12 total on the season though? +10 without, +2 with?

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

It’s still +/- on court vs off. They are +2 with him on the court vs without – while he’s been healthy

  • LakeShow

Look what you lovely advance stats did to you!
    JP’n man…

    :)

  • LakeShow

He’ll never ‘fully figure it out’,(then he would be Shaq, or Wilt), but he has already made allot of progress since entering the L.
He should be starting and putting up better numbers in Denver.
Sounds crazy… but the team needs to actually put faith in McGee to deliver. He get’s pulled for his dumb mistakes and doesn’t get a chance of redemption. He will only improve I foresee though.

  • Peter Walsh

Tito is dope, dude. I highly recommend you check him out.
