Udonis Haslem Has Nicknamed Himself ‘Django’

Inspired by the popular film “Django Unchained” now in theaters, Miami Heat forward Udonis Haslem has given himself a new nickname, based on the hero of the flick. (More interesting basketball news regarding the movie: director Quentin Tarantino says that his mother dated Wilt Chamberlain in the 1970s.) Per ESPN: “From now on, Haslem says no longer wants to be called Udonis or ‘UD’. He said address him in 2013 as Django, FWIW.”

Alright son. Your mother “dated” Wilt. More like was one of the 999 women he’d be with in a year. But Of course you didnt wanna be so blunt about your own momma now.

  • Redd

He does look like him tho..

  • 1982

If the Heat were in Django, UD would be that guy who was behind in Django in that scene in that one part. Uncredited.

Who didn’t Wilt ‘date’ in the 70′s?? That dude got more a** than a toilet seat back in the day…

Dated is a euphemism for “got smashed”. In case you were wondering.

Udonis might be getting paid millions to grab some boards but he’s a slave to the system.
    Power to the people.

  • Jay Cutler

    Tell that to Kobe

  • Max

    Or Shaq.
Let’s just say this rule doesn’t apply to NBA players?

Im just back here to say how much i laughed when i thought about the fact that this director dudes mom probably looks back on her days of “dating” Wilt Chamberlain with such fondness and delight, and talks about it all the time. lol

  • MikeC.

Aren’t nicknames usually given to a person by another person? Why are NBA players choosing their own nicknames? When Udonis completes an interview, does he say “Django out”?

  • macaroni

Your nick name should be tradebaitforacenter. The whole thing lol.

I loved how it was a traditional western, but at the same time, it sarcastically made fun of the genre with its humor. Also loved the standard Tarentino gore…gory but not really unrealistic or obnxious

  • vtrobot

It’s interesting that Kobe and UD both gave themselves nicknames that came from Tarantino movies. At least UD borrowed his from a male character. There are a ton of other Tarantino characters that players can name themselves. Some weaesly player should be ballsy enough to nickname themself Mr. Pink.

“It’s Django, the D is silent”. If there was ever a player where a non-existent D applied….IT’S AMARE!!!!!”

  • LakeShow

    “this director dude”

Really? Quentin Tarantino…. aka “director dude” lol….
