Deron Williams to Sit Out the Next 2 Games With Ankle Injuries

Both of Deron Williams’ ankles are inflammed. The Brooklyn Nets’ point guard will receive injections in both joints, and miss the team’s next two games. Per the NY Post: “Williams will miss the final two games before the All-Star break – Monday night against the Pacers and Wednesday night in Brooklyn against the Nuggets – with synovitis in both ankles. He is expected to return after the All-Star break. Williams is not in Indianapolis with the team, and instead remained in New York to get treatment on both ankles, which included receiving platelet-rich plasma in both of them.”

This should have happened a while ago, hasn’t he been playing with two bum ankles for a while now?

Dang it, cant believe I chose this guy with my number 1 pick in fantasy. Well hope he recovers well and finishes the season strong.

Ehhhh we’ll see. It’s hard to say guys like Dwight, Deron, etc are past their prime when they have an injury-plagued down year.

    Cankles are a B.

  • Redd

to clarify, you were #1 overall or he was your 1st round pick?

Everyone is ripping on D-Will for his play this season, and although it has been sub par, he’s been hurt since last year. He will likely need ankle surgery at the end of this season, and has said so himself. However before the season started, he vowed to play through pain this year due to it being such a huge year for the Nets franchise. Yes, it was his choice to try to grind it out knowing that the consequence of further injury is looming (not to mention the potential for limited effectiveness). That being said, you have to give it to the guy for playing through it, and not bitching about it to the media 24/7 like some other guys (*cough* Howard *cough*).

I read the headline and thought, yeah Tony Parker did just bust his @$$

All the talk about how poorly Deron is playing this season is crazy to me. Besides him being hurt, his numbers aren’t that far off his career averages. At least last time I checked they weren’t. Could be wrong. Either way I think people’s expectations and the rise of other guards around the league are clouding the fact that he’s still putting up good numbers.

Maybe not 24/7 like Dwight, more like 23/6. He did get his coach fired, remember?
