Memphis Grizzlies Say They’re Not Trading Zach Randolph

According to the front-office in Memphis, those Zach Randolph trade rumors can be put to bed. For now, anyway. The Grizzlies say that Z-Bo is no longer on the market. Per the Commercial Appeal: “The team has fielded calls proposing trades for its all-star, but Griz CEO Jason Levien said he told Randolph on Thursday that he won’t be dealt this season. NBA teams have been told the Grizzlies aren’t looking to move the 31-year-old forward, who averages 15.7 points and 11.7 rebounds. Randolph, speaking after the Grizzlies’ Friday morning shootaround in FedExForum, said he hadn’t been bothered by the trade speculation. ‘I understand this is a business, and my confidence has always been the same,’ he said. ‘I try to come out every night and play my game, whether I give us rebounding, defense, whatever is needed.’ Randolph, who was recently named a Western Conference All-Star reserve, was in trade talks earlier this season. However, team brass says its focus is now on rallying the troops. Memphis, struggling since trading Rudy Gay to Toronto late last month, has dropped to fifth in the Western Conference playoff race.”

one thing that i don’t get with Memphis. they must have known all the time that they eventually going to trade rudy when they found a deal they liked. so they knew they where going to get rid of his monter contract. why then did they basically give away 2 productive bench players in Ellington and speights and a 7 footer for almost nothing in return. they completely killed their bench.

So they first let Shane and OJ walk for nothing. Sign no perimeter shooting to space the floor. Then trade Rudy Gay for a pu-pu platter now they letting rumors of Zach being traded leak? In Denny Green voice *They are who we thought they are*. Ladies and Gentlemen, your Memphis Grizzlies…

Losing Speights hurts a little bit but good riddance to Ellington. He had 3 or 4 big games (the biggest one being the one against the Heat early in the season) which inflated his numbers. He’s been jacking up bricks left and right the rest of the time. In the short term the bench was gutted but it’s being rebuilt. Looks like they’re gonna make another move or two before the deadline via all the trade exceptions we have (hopefully without having to move any players). The bench will be fine. Just gotta get the team chemistry back.

Memphis Grizzly new management should be fired right away Trading a budding superstar in Rudy Gay and event thinking about getting rid of Zbo is an absolute joke. This the first real year the grizz wud have both gay and zbo together and a legitament shot at a title, and decide to trade rudy for a prospect and thinking about giving Randolph the axe? ur kidding? the first year with just zbo they were a game away from beating the thunder, and last season went 7 with a non healthy randolph, this was their year (if they ever hard a chance) and management wants to be cheap and get rid of big contracts? clearly shows their minds arent on winning and more about profitable and their own wallets, dispicable and whoever made those deicisions should be out of a job immediately
