Derrick Rose Says His Hamstrings are ‘on Fire’

The word out of Chicago, is that Derrick Rose’s return is now almost entirely in his hands. There’s just one problem — he’s not ready, mentally or physically. In addition to not fully trusting his surgically-repaired left knee, Rose is having issues with his hammies: “ESPN’s Doris Burke spoke with the former MVP before Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers and reported that although Rose has been taking full contact in practice for well over a month, his hamstrings are ‘on fire’ after those workouts. Rose added that he won’t return to the court until he’s past those issues. [...] For his part, Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau on Sunday repeated the same line he’s used for several weeks now when asked about Rose’s possible return this season. ‘We’ll cross that bridge when we get there,’ Thibodeau said before the game. ‘For us right now the guys that are playing have to concentrate on their improvement and our next opponent. Derrick has to concentrate on his rehab. And until that changes that’s the way it has to be and that’s the way we’re approaching it.’”

Rose need to just shut it down for this season. The team clearly wasnt goin for it all this year and they made that clear by gutting the bench. But he should just rest up and comeback at 100% next year. And this is comin from a Bulls fan, cus Adrian Peterson made it look too easy

He needs to play a few games…..just a few, even if they are meaningless…he has to test that Knee out against NBA competition in an NBA game, its that simple…he can wait until the last 3 games of the playoff for all I care…. Bulls fan…

Yea…come back with limited mins. That way when he is 100%…he can see how far he has come. I think doesn’t want to come back and be like Shumpert and Pretty Ricky but that’s just apart of the process.

Yeah AP set the bar extremely high for ACL comebacks. No one will ever come back as strong as AP did.

Last year was probably one of the most difficult of Rose’s career. He was dealing with different injuries the entire season and it culminated in the ACL tear during the playoffs. I think this has to do more with his fears than his knee. He is smart to wait. He needs to be ready 100% mentally as well as physically. That first game back will be his toughest even with limited minutes.
