Raymond Felton Warns ‘Certain People’ in Portland Not to Approach as He Returns

New York Knicks point guard Raymond Felton, who ballooned in weight and played disastrously as a member of the Trail Blazers last season, returns to the scene of the crime tonight. Felton — who calls his Portland experience “the worst moment I had in basketball” — is warning his detractors to back off. Per Newsday: “Certain people there I don’t want to see and better not come near me at all,’ Felton said. Felton, who spent just last season with the Blazers, said he wasn’t referring to the fans, and wouldn’t say at whom his ire is directed. It could be the media, who was critical of his play and being out of shape after the lockout ended last season. ‘I think probably the worst moment I had in basketball was there, for sure,’ Felton said. Felton, who has admitted he was in bad shape last season, started 56 games for Portland and averaged 11.4 points and 6.5 assists. One Portland-area newspaper was overly critical of Felton, suggesting some places for him to avoid when he’s in town. ‘I really don’t care, man,’ Felton said. ‘I’m going to laugh the whole time . . . It’s going to be funny to me because I’m happy now. I’m where I want to be. I could care less what they do or say. That’s behind me.’”

No one to blame but himself for that season. He needs to be worried about Damian Lillard, not the fans or media because if he’s not careful, he’s going to get embarrassed.

Well fwiw, he played pretty poorly last season and even admitted to being out of shape. Whenever a player doesn’t live up to expectations (no matter how high or low they are), media will grill you.

    Exactly…just worry about Lillard!

So people hold professionals to their responsibilities now? What has this world come to? Yea, because criticizing a pro athlete, whose main responsibility is to be in shape, who is not in shape, is the fault of the media, fans, etc. Grow up.

  • Jay

His occupation requires him to be in shape and perform at a high level. He didn’t last year and expected nobody to say anything? I love Felton, but come on man!

Those “certain people” are people selling cupcakes.

I’d love to be out of shape and averaging 11 and 6 in the NBA…

  • TheUnspokenTruth

C’mon, Raymond! You didn’t hear Lamar Odom saying this upon his return to Dallas, or Boris Diaw visiting Charlotte.

    Let’em have it Ray!

Let your game do the talking…. do it. Go Big!

  • vtrobot

There was no admitting needed. Dude was straight up fat last year. LO might be the only other one who’s been even close to the poor shape that Ray was in.

Too much sensitivity in the league nowadays, I tell you hwat.
