Gerald Wallace Has Lost All Confidence in His Shooting

The statistics are grim for Gerald Wallace — since the All-Star break, the veteran Brooklyn Nets forward who inked a four-year, $40 million deal last summer, has only hit 14.9% of his threes, and he’s hitting a woeful 33.8% from the field (before the break Wallace was connecting on 43.2% of his shots.) Wallace fully admits that he has zero confidence now when he lets it fly. Per the NY Post: “My confidence is totally gone,’ Wallace said. ‘I’m just at the point now … I’m in a situation where I feel like if I miss, I’m going to get pulled out of the game, you know what I’m saying? So my whole concept is just that you can’t come out of the game if you’re not missing shots. I think I lost the confidence of the coaching staff and my teammates. So my main thing is those guys can score, so instead of thinking about it so much, just trying to focus on defense, try to move the ball and get those guys shots.’ [...] ‘I’ve been working and I’ve been shooting, but it’s hard,’ Wallace said. ‘Regardless of how much work I’m doing on my shot, the fact of the matter is it is what it is. I’ve been in the league 12 years. Am I mad about not being out on the court? Am I mad about not making shots? Yeah. But my main thing is I’m trying to stay on the court. I know I can play defense, make plays for the other guys and try to do some things to help me stay on the court.’”

Go ahead and hire your own shooting coach. Start correcting those terrible mechanics.

That is usually what happens when someone is shooting terribly

“I’m in a situation where I feel like if I miss, I’m going to get pulled out of the game, you know what I’m saying?”

Yes, Gerald. It means get to a sports shrink ASAP. You are all f’d up man.

well he never was a great shooter to begin with… he was able to stay in the league because of his relentlessness and activeness around the rim… now that he’s on the downside of his athleticism, his failure to get his outside shots to fall would be a great problem.

I almost went juiced up Bonds on you.

This is the equivalent of someone going to college, getting a “C” in computer science, leaving college early, getting a job where you are required to be in expert in computers, then complaining about how you are struggling. You left Alabama early and made some money for yourself and your family … smart move. However, you never mastered your craft. Now it’s time to go.

Do they still have their amnesty clause?

  • roscoe

    What’s wrong with getting a “C”?

  • shockexchange

Sco .. C’mon Sco, you’re better than that.

  • roscoe

lol. but for some a C takes a lot of hard work… like me.

  • shockexchange

So you’re “the Gerald Wallace” of SLAM. And you’re proud of that the Shock Exchange supposes? C’MON Sco Sco.

  • roscoe
