Joakim Noah Could Miss First Round of the Playoffs

According to Chicago Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau, there’s a chance center Joakim Noah may sit out the entire first round Playoff series against the Brooklyn Nets. This would be a major blow to an already depleted Bulls squad. Per ESPN: “Coach Tom Thibodeau is planning on having Noah available for the first-round series that begins Saturday against the Brooklyn Nets, but admitted that some uncertainty still hangs in the air when it comes to the All-Star who has been dealing with plantar fasciitis in his right foot. [...] Thibodeau was asked if it is possible that Noah doesn’t play. ‘It’s possible, yeah; he’s still day to day,’ Thibodeau said. ‘If he has soreness, we’re going to take it as it comes.’ Noah has played in just three games since March 21, and played just 14 minutes in each of the last two games of the season. He looked sluggish in two separate stints on the court Wednesday against the Washington Wizards and afterward admitted to feeling ‘rusty.’ When not soaking his right foot in a bucket of ice water after the game, he walked around the locker room with a severe limp. Even if Noah does play against the Nets, it’s likely he will be on a severe minutes restriction. How much might Noah be able to play? ‘I don’t know and that’s the unfortunate part,’ Thibodeau said. ‘All I know is that we’re better with him on the floor. I prefer for him to be out there extended minutes but whatever he can give us we would like him to do it. But if he can’t go he can’t go and we have to go to the next guy.’ Nazr Mohammed figures to pick up key minutes in place of Noah.”

other than last yr, when have the spurs really been relevant in the playoffs since 2007 when they last won (6 yrs ago)?

i might just do that. I might just have to go to the Barclays center my damn self tomorrow in all red, red like the red sea. the jigga will seek me and ask why i ruined the blackout and ill tell him “jimmy, your nets suck! and btw LLC#12 says thank you”

  • LLC#12

Sounds good, tell him to stop rapping about being rich all the time as well, that’s getting annoying… For the record, if Noah were fit for the whole series, I’d say the Bulls have a decent chance of beating the Nets, it’d be around 50-50. But just IMO, without Noah, I can’t see the Bulls finding a way to win. I hope they do though, cause they’re one of my favourite teams, but I just can’t see it. Good luck anyway

thanks. i dont think Noah will ever fully get rid of the Plantar Fascitis issues he has. My guess is that it is something that he will have to deal with his whole career. I think we stll have a shot, no one on the Nets other than lame Reggie Evans has recent playoff experience and Joe Johnson i guess but he notoriously sucks it up in the playoffs if im not mistaken. I’m banking on the experience factor to get us over the hump.

Don’t worry guys we got Nazr

Imagine if Noah, DRose and Deng were on the wrong side of 30 and playing like this.
For these 6 years they have been twice in the Conference Finals, not that bad.

    Conference finals is irrelevant?

    His own fault too

last yr and the the yr after their championship, but all the other 4 yrs they didn’t do much and underperformed especially when as a 1 seed they lost to memphis (even tho memphis was one of the better 8 seeds in a long long time). I just don’t believe the core (tp, manu, duncan) can get it done anymore in the playoffs, but i dont see how you can get rid of any of those guys either as a coach gm or teammate.

  • pposse

I think Pop started giving these guys rests as the older they got. Not when they were in the primes of their careers. In general from my pov i dont agree with resting players, i understand it to an extent when guys are on the wrong side of 30 or if you have a top seed locked up. If a player says they can play, they should play unless there’s a clear demonstration on the court of injury that they are trying to fight thru a la kobe and d’antoni.

Timmy played around 40 minutes when he was young/in his prime. So you are right. I think the coach has to communicate really well with the medical staff to understand how much the players condition allows them to play. At one point a player might need some rest. That’s all I’m saying. It’s an 82 game season not all games are that important.

Someone should ask Rose if Noah should play. Then ask Noah what he thinks of Rose’s opinion. Then ask Rose what he thinks of Noah’s opinion about Rose’s opinion about whether he should play. Then ask…..

They’ll be done in 6. Deron Williams is going to feel like he’s playing NBA Live 95 in Arcade Mode. Play great defense all you want. At some point, someone’s going to have to score.
