Russell Westbrook Out For Remainder Of Playoffs

After undergoing surgery on his torn lateral right meniscus, Russell Westbrook will miss the rest of the Playoffs, the Thunder announced today. There was a shred of hope that Westbrook would return during the postseason, but the surgery was to repair his meniscus and not remove it, which results in a longer recovery:

“Russell’s health and well being are obviously our number one priority through this process and today’s procedure helped solidify our belief that Russell will have many productive years of basketball in his future,” Thunder GM Sam Presti said in a statement. “Although we are of course disappointed that Russell will be unable to return to the floor with his teammates this season, the opportunity to repair the meniscus as opposed to remove it was the best possible scenario for Russell’s long term health as a player and person.”

he’ll be back for the Western Finals against the Spurs, bet on that…. also I’m sure Kevin Du fckin Rant will have no problem picking up the extra offensive load…. he gits bucketzz….

and this is coming from a Clippers fan… I just know Vinny Del Negro will find a way to screw the Clips from reaching the WCF…. should have been fired last season everyone knows it including the players themselves

repair? that sucks. get well soon. and artest might have come back too early from his, he might not play in game 4 due to problems with the knee. not that is matters as far as the outcome

  • VC

    Al harrington “gets buckets” too

“… the opportunity to repair the meniscus as
opposed to remove it was the best possible scenario for Russell’s long
term health as a player and person.” as a person? why didn’t my doctor tell me that?

People will now see how important Westbrook is for OKC. He is the leader through his inspire play. KD has more Fire now, but when they play the Spurs, its over. Spurs vs. Knicks NBA Finals. Knicks win it all. BOOK IT!!

my buddy’s half-sister makes $77/hr on the laptop. She has been fired  for five  months but last month her income was $14332 just working on the laptop for a few hours. Read more on  Jive8.com

    Westbrook out, Durant unleashed.

  • KevinJohnsonFan

Durant is going off. And Perkins sent that message early.

Guys coming back to quick from meniscus tears have effectively ruined careers….right Gilbert Arenas?

  • Noompsi

Clips gonna take the West. Book it!

  • CarrotsonCaretsonCarats

too bad he’s on orlando… al harrington that is.

    now if Durant improves defensively.

  • Ben Ireland

Miami plays whoever, and wins… It really doesn’t matter who anymore. Book that.

  • RKJ92

    Mountain goat dumb… “book it”

  • RKJ92

Too bad they just got rolled by the Grizz 2 games in a row; a team that takes the west doesn’t struggle like that. Expect the Spurs or OKC even without Westbrook to take the west, my money is on the Spurs though.

is that what happened to him? I wondered why he fell off… considering that his game was based around his shot and not his athleticism. I though he should’ve lasted much longer.

  • roscoe

Perks is about to get exposed… Book it.

  • Da Real

Pat Riley should send bum ass Pat Beverly a nice check in a couple months. That dirty play just secured another Heat championship.

    Umm. No.

  • Noompsi

Yeah… Miami wasn’t down to Indiana last year, OKC wasn’t up 1-0 last year. The Grizz didn’t win game 6 last year…
I’m telling ya Clipps in 7. Then in 6-7 v’s SAS, then in 4-6 over GSW. Too easy
Clipps/Heat finals. Miami wins, but in 7

  • RKJ92

Dog Miami was suffering heavy injuries no sh*t they struggled.. what are you even saying?? like to even predict Clippers in the finals over Spurs and OKC is a testament to your knowledge of basketball..

  • Max

    He good defensively.
