Andre Iguodala to Opt Out of Contract and Become a Free Agent

According to multiple published reports, Andre Iguodala is set to opt out of his current deal with the Denver Nuggets and become one of the most coveted free agents in the NBA this summer. Per Yahoo! Sports and the Denver Post: “Iguodala, 29, promises to be one of the most desired players on the summer market. His agent, Rob Pelinka, informed Denver CEO Josh Kroenke of the plan in a meeting on Thursday in Los Angeles. ‘We are fully aware of Andre’s intentions and he’s well aware of how much we want him back,’ Kroenke said Friday afternoon. ‘Andre us a huge priority for our organization.’ [...] This doesn’t necessarily mean he won’t re-sign with Denver, but it’s definitely a sign that he’s considering other teams. [...] Iguodala averaged 13.0 points per game, 5.4 rebounds and 5.3 assists last season, his first with Denver. He has until June 25 to exercise the early termination clause on his contract. Team president Josh Kroenke has often spoken highly of Iguodala and will make a push to try to bring him back. There are numerous enticing options of NBA teams with money to spend, including Houston, Dallas and Atlanta. He can sign a four-year deal with any team, but a five-year deal with Denver.”

can the Bulls sign this guy?? Imagine Deng and Iguodala playing the 2-3 wooo that’d be too raw.

  • spit hot fiyah

he would look nice in houston in that fast paced system. and he could guard the other teams best perimeter player so that harden can hide on D.

Was just thinking about this. He could take some of the ball handling responsibility off of D Rose, allowing Rose to focus more on scoring.

The biggest problem with this is that, from what I’ve seen, he’s not a great shooter (especially from 3) and he takes a lot of ill advised shots. Correct me if I’m wrong about that.
The other problem is that Bulls never go hard after any players, so it’ll be more likely that he goes to another team that actually shows interest. He’s from Chicago and we still wouldn’t be able to sign him…

This man is underated, when he left Philly it had a LeBron type effect on the 76ers team. his shot is way more consistent I think he should sign for the grizz

Iguodala is one of the best two way players out there. I dont know his percentages but he can shoot the three and he can create his own shot which is something a lot of the Bulls players now can’t do. Plus his attitude and the way he plays D would be a perfect fit, I would love to see what type of player Iggy would be under Thibs, with Noah backing him up our team would be a defensive juggernaut; Just don’t know if that money we can offer him will be perfect.

come to think of it i think we can only offer him like 2 million a season smh damnit. Maybe if we don’t resign robinson and bellinelli more money will free up.

sign with the nets for the minimum.

Chicago can’t afford him unless they amnesty Boozer or Deng. He’s due
to make 11 mil this year w/the Nuggets if he doesn’t go into free
agency. I don’t expect him to take a pay cut.

    Iggy to the Clippers!

  • hushabomb

That’s not a bad spot to go to. Great defender and his quickness on D makes him an asset. Also the ability to pass, rebound and shoot means that his versatility will be showcased. He don’t need to carry a team like they wanted him to do in Philly. Great FA pickup for a team that is contending for the title

I’m guessing Andre just wants security heading into the future. Its not that he doesn’t wanna come back its just he wants a new, longer contract. I think he’ll return to Denver.

Will the last person leaving Denver PLEASE turn out all the lights?

  • KingBenjamin

He’d be a nice fit in Portland, if they have enough money to get him to sign.

Also would be a nice fit in Chicago, that is if the Bulls amnesty Boozer.

  • KingBenjamin

No way they sign him, he’s the same position as Harden and the Rockets covet Parsons too much, there’s no place for Iggy on the Rockets.

Boston faithful are chanting ” Iggy, Iggy, Iggy”…lord knows we need the athleticism and defense. Doc might actually stay it Danny stops prolonging the rebuilding process.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

I gotta agree. Plus his jumper is way too shaky. Let’s be honest though, his skillset + defense would fit right in with almost any team.

Purple and Gold… Pau you just got the amnesty

    Kobe: “Come… Be my Pippen.”

  • BugEyes

I don’t see Chicago but Portland is a good idea Iggy and Tatum on the wings with lily AMD Aldridge and have Wesley come off the bench

To the Knicks… make it happen, Walsh!

  • KingBenjamin

I think it’s only shaky because he is so hesitant to shoot, he always wants to make the right play and be an all-around player but I think he needs to be more aggressive offensively.
