    Ohhhh Canadaaaa

    Consecutive number one picks!

  • VanCityBBall

WOOOOHOOOO CANADA STAND UP!!! Didn’t see this coming but not mad at all…

  • jub_al

wow, didn’t see this coming either, but Canada represent!!

  • pgislammajamma

could be very entertaining noel and davis next to each other maybe in 2 years and a good point guard

  • RKJ92

Bennett at number 1 was interesting.. but his ceiling is high as he is so skilled.. just think, he would have been the number 1 pick EASY had he been 2 inches taller. I can’t really be mad at the pick as nobody seems to be of superstar potential but lots of Great role players!

  • Junior Taylor

Bennett is going to be a good player but I don’t think you can risk a #1 overall pick on a tweener and MJ continues to cement his legacy as the worst GM/Owner of all-time.

  • The Asian Kobe Bryant

I really thought they were going with Porter or Noel but this Bennett guy is a Larry Johnson clone with a higher ceiling.

Noel alongside Davis and Gordon makes the Pelicans an intruiging team to watch and one to look out for in the near future, ditto for the Wizards.

I smell a Tyreke Evans trade soon.

  • Vince

    This is one crazy draft.

  • The Mauve Avenger

Isn’t that Wiggins kid from Canada? It’ll be three next year.

  • Lloyd

  • RunNGun

Wow… WTF happened!?! If this draft had a bracket, everyone’s would be more broke than Latrell Sprewell’s Swiss Bank account.

  • Stevo

Wiggins would be the second one he was talking about. Anthony Davis isn’t Canadian

you know it. wiggins should be there too. wow canada basketball has come a long way.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

    So much lol

  • The Mauve Avenger

Wow I’m off. I actually thought he was for some reason.

cody zeller looks like a legit baller man. only time will tell if he gets a pick right. come on MJ. kemba, tobias harris, MKG, jeremy tyler …. i mean come on

  • Markus437

I have absolutely no idea who wins ROY

  • OfftheWall87

Bulls did well with Tony Snell. Another defender for Thibs.

Jordan is out of his mind for taking Zeller over both McLemore and Noel. You don’t draft a guy who at best, will have a solid career over a dude who at worst, will have a good career. McLemore is going to be a star if he is motivated enough. Another bad decision by MJ. McLemore, Kemba and Henderson would have been a good, young core to build with.

Trey Burke in Utah is a good fit.

Philly trading Jrue makes absolutely no sense to me. Just gave him an extension this past season. Even if they are starting over, he is a great place to start. MCW has a ways to go for this trade to make any kind of sense.

  • Batman

who thinks trading All star PG Jrue Holiday for Noel is a bad decision? and then drafted a PG that has no J, MCW and evan turner. wow. two guys that are not consistent shooters..

  • Drig

The FIRST time I actually spend time to follow the NBA draft and read articles about every guy’s play……………..and this happens.

    Screw this.

  • Stainless

    Toronto represent!!!

  • OfftheWall87

Horrible decision. Jrue just made his first All-Star Game. Only 23. They just gave him an extension. Plus, Grievis Vasquez just had a good season. It sends him to the bench and pushes Austin Rivers further down the bench. Don’t know what either team is really doing. Bynum’s knee had him out for the season and now they trade for a guy who’s recovering from ACL surgery.

  • Dagger

    It’s the unibrow, isn’t it?

  • initbruv

Lol, still not used to the whole Pelicans thing. Shoulda gone with the New Orleans Nipples you ask me.

  • Mike Gilbert

    best draft ever

  • Mike Gilbert

    Tyler Zellar: Adam Morrison 2.0

  • Mike Gilbert

I hope you guys are dope at the next olympics or the one after next

  • OfftheWall87

You don’t pick a guy who may be a solid player in the league over a guy who will immediately be able to score and could turn into an All-Star player. The most talented player in the draft was on the board and the Bobcats didn’t take him.

  • Mike Gilbert

lol same man, but I thought it was awesome! It was so unpredictable and exciting!

  • Mike Gilbert

assuming Trey Burke startson the Jazz, I could see him winning it

  • Mike Gilbert

Don’t be silly they have Ben Gordon at the 2…

  • Mike Gilbert

great decision. The 76ers were going nowhere, they would be in 8th seed hell for the next 2 years minimum. Sometimes you gotta know when to pull the plug and this is the perfect time. Noel will be out half the season, he can take his time coming back, and then they can get a good draft pick for the stacked 2014 draft. Plus they have the Pelicans pick too.

  • OfftheWall87

I’m going to hope you’re being sarcastic.

  • Mike Gilbert

I can see Tony Snell potentially becoming like Kawhi Leonard in a few years.

LOL I cannot believe they took Zellar. I can’t wait to see if he is a complete bust. I do hope he does well though.

I think Trey Burke as of right now should be the rookie of the year favorite. It’s easiest for point guards to win it, and he’s in a great situation

I like the Philly trade. They were going to be in 8th seed hell anyway. It makes sense to blow it up. Not only do you get two lovely guys in MCW and Noel, but 2 draft picks in the stacked 2014 draft. I like it

  • Mike Gilbert

Noel got traded to the 76ers…

  • Mike Gilbert

Was anyone else really excited to see Davis and Noel block every shot possible?

  • oluf’s son

man, the nets got ALOT stronger with plumlee and the recent trade with the celts

  • Teddy-the-Bear

I was super excited for a Noel/Davis front court; they could’ve played Davis at the 4 where he’s probably more comfortable, and Monty Williams would have made them a defensive machine. And yeah, this sucks for Vasquez, who I’m rooting for.

  • Tony Taylor

Leave a message…should have went with my boy McKlemore. i think his ISO game hurt his stock. Zeller though, is the best pick MJ ever made even if he only lives up to 60% of his potential that is what is really sad.

  • Tony Taylor

he must be because clearly Gerald Henderson is the most deserving player on that entire roster.

  • Tony Taylor

first the Bynum trade now this…76ers GM must really want to lose his job. he might as well trade for Beasley because they clearly have the same weed man.

  • roscoe

the nba draft is like a port-a-potty on a hot summer night. u even get the guy who stunk it up coming out 30 times in row.

no one wants to use it, but when you need it.. you’re somewhat relieved to see one.

cheers to the draft being over.

  • roscoe

i can’t understand zellar that high either. he is way too soft.

  • Tony Taylor

  • roscoe

if it makes canadians happy they claim adavis as their own…

i am sure aD is cool with it.

  • Mike Gilbert

especially with so many other guys on the board, and the Bobcats have so many needs. I’d love to hear someone convince me as to why this is a good pick

  • Mike Gilbert

    lol yes 100% sarcastic

  • sauldreyes

Really surprised Noel fell so much all the way to the “Pelicans”, but when he got there I was really excited for that pick (Twin Towers/Block Party!) until they decided to trade him. Also can someone please inform me on Shabazz and his game because I don’t really pay attention to college ball but heading before the season wasn’t he the #1 freshman heading in? I was hoping OKC would take him at #12 as a potential Harden fill in.

  • sauldreyes

yeah I was real hyped for that!…..oh well lol

  • ATL dynamite

Shabazz is nowhere close to Harden’s game imo. Harden is more skilled and willing to pass and moving the ball.

  • guest

Can’t believe no one corrected your mistake. Shows how much respect Cody gets.

  • Caboose

As of RIGHT NOW, this would be my order of best rookies this year:
All Rook 1st: Burke, Oladipo, Porter, Bennett, Noel
All Rook 2nd: Carter-Williams, McLemore, Muhammad, Karasev, Olynyk

  • Caboose

    Byron Mullens.

  • Ugh

Starting the tank on draft night – now that’s serious tanking. Genius or idiocy? We’ll see.

  • Noompsi

    Whatever… Zeller is a steal at 6

  • christianbullen

No Ricky Ledo? big mistake.. knicks shoulda snagged him.

  • Mike From Spain

Vasquez had a career year if IIRC… perhaps he’ll fetch a good price for NOLA but I can’t see who would be a best fit

  • Mike From Spain

Analytics people will tell you Shabazz is not an NBA worthy ball player

  • Basketball Coach
  • Dfrance

Vasquez had a good year, but I don’t see him being the long term solution at PG. I think he’s a solid backup.

As for Philly, I think it’s pretty obvious they’re already calling it a season.

  • danpowers

instead we may see davis make the playoffs

  • danpowers

great to see another german landsman in the nba. i hope schroeder will be able to establish himself as a starter in atlanta

  • OfftheWall87

He earned the starting spot and now he lost it not because of anything he did. Unless he’s extremely selfless, he has to be upset knowing that he’s going back to the bench. Rivers has to feel some kind of way knowing that he’s basically going to be out of the rotation completely unless Gordon gets hurt again.

  • TR

He just needs to get agressive. He kind of reminds me of Barnes in the way he became passive at times in college.

  • http://www.reverbnation.com/savagemuzicgroup T-Ray

My thoughts exactly. So you trade your 23 year old All Star point guard for another injured big man? Makes perfect sense…

  • TR

Gordon is always hurt…would they run Holiday and Vasquez together?

  • http://www.reverbnation.com/savagemuzicgroup T-Ray

Showing some Orlando bias I see aye Caboose? Jk I think it’s between Oldadipo, McLemore, and Burke.

  • http://www.reverbnation.com/savagemuzicgroup T-Ray

    Spot on observation sir.

  • Mike Gilbert

I guess this means MJ has faith in Byombo?

  • cflip

It was a Rich Cho, MJ didn’t want Zeller. MJ handed over the team a year ago. Reports state that Rich Cho was high on Zeller, no mentions of Jordan and who he was interested in.

  • http://www.slamonline.com/ Megatron

    Weed man. lol.

  • cflip

When are people going to realize that Rich Cho is the gm and that MJ gave him reign over the office like a year ago? Zeller was a Cho pick, reports say that Cho was high on Zeller, not MJ.

  • Max

    Andrew Wiggins is the man.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

I think Shabazz will be an off the bench role player at worst.

  • http://www.reverbnation.com/savagemuzicgroup T-Ray

I agree. Oh btw I’m reading WWZ and you’re right can’t put the darn thing down man.

  • phislammajamma

    The Knicks got a steal

  • LeroyShonuff

Sooo Jordan is getting ripped for drafting a guy who plays hard and is getting better? If Zeller was European scouts would scream about his upside and how he handled his own against tough interior defenders. Yet he is criticized??? Zeller played stellar ball in college. Held his own against top flight talent for two years and got better. He is extremely athletic and runs the floor like a deer. I think Jordan got a steal.

Same with Minny. The biggest difference with Ben and Shabazz is Shabazz is older than people thought. He can score better than anyone in this draft and he needs not to be motivated. Also he goes to a team that has players and a great coach. Shabazz will win R.O.Y and be the best player from this draft.

  • LP @ThisisEther

**Steal at #4, and since its 4, i don’t think its a steal, but its a decent pick

  • LP @ThisisEther

Jordan isn’t making the decisions…he is not the GM, can’t stress this enough. he doesn’t do that anymore, he has stepped back… he has allowed others to make those decisions…

  • LeroyShonuff

The league now rewards tweeners. Just watch the finals and this years playoffs. Anthony is 19 and 9 type of player. Can handle, run the floor, move on the pick and roll, shot and rebound. Perfect player to play with Irving. Also Jordan legacy as a GM is overblown. Everybody takes Kwame number and Morrison too. He actually hit on more than people thinks.

  • cflip

No. Jrue was good, but he’s wasn’t going to be good enough be a 1st or 2nd option. He was a “Win Now” piece that wasn’t going to get us over the hump, leading us to nowhere. Also I doubt Turner will be here much longer.

  • LakeShow

You don’t get 27 win’s and earn a starting spot.
I like him…. But, he still doesn’t have steady shot. He can’t defend smaller PG’s. He took 13 FG’s to get almost 14ppg. He is very nice, but a just back up on a good playoff team.

  • http://www.reverbnation.com/savagemuzicgroup T-Ray

Agreed. I’d much rather start Jrue mainly because of his defensive prowess.

  • LakeShow

They are both equally TO prone. Jrue is a much better defender. Better shooter. And just has other intangibles they separate him from Vasquez as a PG

They could be a solid back court duo too though.

I’m curious what happens with Gordon. I’m sure he’s gone.

  • http://www.reverbnation.com/savagemuzicgroup T-Ray

I’m actually surprised that they didn’t go after McLemore and dump EG.

  • danpowers

yup, but the knicks front office traditionally makes more or less two bad moves for each draft steal they get

  • OfftheWall87

    Holiday took 17 shots for 18 points…

  • bike

Bennett is a good safe choice in a draft that is unbelievably weak.

Shane Larkin is much better than his pick suggests.

I sincerely hope these teams that are putting themselves in a position right now to hit it big in next year’s draft know what they are doing. Wiggins and co. have yet to play one game of college ball and yet everyone is convinced they are a sure thing.

  • RKJ92

  • RKJ92

  • Mike Gilbert

lol I should just delete my account

  • Nathan Shane Long

I really like the Cody Zeller for Charlotte because he was the only good big man prospect that is 100% healthy no surgeries or serious injuries unlike Bennett,Noel,Len he will play in summer league unlike the other three and will show off his shooting range that he did during his workout with the Bobcats and people forget that when Indiana beat Kentucky two years ago Zeller killed Anthony Davis so he can play well against nba talent and Charlotte was going to draft Bennett if Cleveland did not so Zeller was the second option

  • Caboose

So who wants to explain to me the differences between Bennett and Derrick Williams?

  • Caboose

Problem with McLemore is Tyreke, Thornton, and Salmons already on the Kings. The backcourt is a MESS.

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

Agreed. With that being said you have to be expecting some roster changes. Then again the Kings have been notorious for heavy backcourts over the last few years.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

What else is new? They’ll NEVER know how to keep a stable rotation.

  • Conor

I, too, would prefer something closer to a 10-point loss against Team USA, hahaha

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

Yea they do have a bit of a problem with that.

  • Caboose

No kidding. There’s a LOT of trades I’d do if I were the Kings.
Kings get: Greivis Vasquez, Ryan Anderson, Brian Roberts, Jason Smith
Pelicans get: Marcus Thornton, Isaiah Thomas, John Salmons, Patrick Patterson

Kings start: Vasquez, McLemore, Evans, Anderson, Cousins with Roberts, Thompson, Jimmer, and Hayes off the bench
Pelicans start: Holiday, Gordon, Salmons, Davis, Lopez with Patterson, Isaiah, Thornton, and Aminu off the bench
Spurs get: DeMarcus Cousins, Marcus Thornton, Isaiah Thomas
Kings get: Tony Parker, Danny Green, Tiago Splitter

Kings start: Parker, Evans, Green, Thompson, Splitter with McLemore, Hayes, Jimmer, and Patterson off the bench
Spurs start: Thomas, Thornton, Kawhi, Duncan, Cousins with Manu, Diaw, Neal, and Blair off the bench
    (assuming Dwight leaves)
Kings get: Pau Gasol, Tyson Chandler, Knicks 2014 1st Round Pick
Lakers get: DeMarcus Cousins, Raymond Felton, Jimmer Fredette, Jason Thompson, Marcus Camby
Knicks get: Steve Nash, Marcus Thornton, Jordan Hill, Chris Duhon

Kings start: Thomas, McLemore, Salmons, Gasol, Chandler with Evans, Douglas, Patterson, and Hayes off the bench
Lakers start: Felton, Kobe, Metta, Thompson, Cousins with Blake, Meeks, Clark, and Camby off the bench
Knicks start: Nash, Thornton, Shumpert, Melo, Stoudemire with Smith, Copeland, Hill, and Duhon off the bench

Are these trades blockbuster? Yes. Will they ever happen? No. If they do, will I proclaim my superiority over everybody? Yeah, probably.

  • Da-Meat-Hook

Although their measurements are similar and they’re both tweeners, I’d say Bennett posseses a much higher skillset – much more range, much better shooting mechanics, better touch around the basket with the ability to finish with either hand.

What scares me most about Bennett is that he tends to coast on the defensive end, which will be that much more difficult when he’s guarding players that are just as strong and 3 inches taller than him.

  • Caboose

If Bennett can handle the ball better than Derrick, he could turn out pretty good. But, if he can’t defend the 3, he’s gonna run into a lot of trouble.

  • Markus437

I hope it’s Oladipo that wins if

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

If any of these trades happen I will be shocked to say the least.

  • Anthony Darnello Taylor Jr.

Well for his sake I hppe this proves to be worth it lol I would have Ben so I would have a reason to dump Gerald Henderson. But I will say that Zeller can at least create his own offense to an extent which will help him alot because Kemba is not a great distributor yet. That actually couldhave hurt McKlemore in terms of development because he is still working on that part of his game. They could still trade down and give the kings Zeller next years second pick as well as Henderson who has an expiring contract or Gordon as a bench spark. Then Charlotte can get McKlemore and may Patrick Patterson I think both teams would greatly benegit from that deal.

  • Da-Meat-Hook

That’s the thing. I’d say his handle and lateral quickness are mediocre for a 3.

I see him being somewhere between a poor man’s (healthy) Larry Johnson and a very very rich man’s Brandon Bass (if that makes any sense).

  • fivechainz

C.J. McCollum Pick of the Draft. Blazers got the RoY two years in a row. Finally they got the drafting curse gone

  • RKJ92

Nah you provide me a good laugh from time to time while im at work. The more basketball commenters the better!! just not the crazy laker fans.. those people offer us nothing but nonsense lol..

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

They are having trouble finding a team that values Eric Gordon as something other than an overpaid madonna

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

Tyreken is an RFA. Thornton on his way out too.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

    Man I told you lol

  • hushabomb

The Sixers now will run their offence thru Turner. And with Young, Turner and Wright, their objective is to run and push at all costs.

Pelicans now have Vasquez, EG, Rivers and Burke. One of em will get traded.

  • Datkid

the bobcats already sort of have a player like nerlens noel though. Bismark Boyombo is just as athletic fast and quick as noel, only without the weight and knee problems. the bobcats really need a stretch 4 to clear space for him. which is why they chose zeller. Plus he’s athletic so it’s a problem if people close out on him. and he can get his own shot. Mclemore would’ve also been good too, I won’t deny that but Zeller is very good in his own right and fills an immediate need.

  • Basketball_iQ

Why isn’t anyone talking about Atlanta taking 2pg’s on with Jeff Teague killing it right now.

  • Basketball_iQ

McLemore cannot shoot like Ben Gordon. Period. I think Jordan saw more effort in Zeller’s game than another SG who probably couldn’t beat Henderson one on one. Henderson showed last season he can hold his own. There is nothing wrong with Zeller or his game or this selection. IMO

  • The Mauve Avenger

    Haha might be.
