Memphis Grizzlies Hire Dave Joerger as Head Coach

The Memphis Grizzlies have elevated assistant Dave Joerger to head coach. They’re putting the finishing touches on a multi-year contract. Per the Commercial Appeal: “Joerger is in negotiations to complete a three- to four-year contract that would average less than $2 million per season, a source with knowledge of the team’s decision making said. Joerger, the Grizzlies’ lead assistant coach for the past two seasons, will replace Lionel Hollins after the Griz made their first Western Conference Finals appearance. Griz brass decided not to renew Hollins’ contract. Hollins elevated Joerger to the role of lead assistant before the 2011-12 season, and empowered the young coach with more responsibility every year. Joerger is most familiar with the current roster and front office staff. Griz management could sell continuity with a Joerger appointment.”

This is why the Heat will three-peat (if they don’t mess up their own chemistry by trading Bosh)… All the other contenders are messing with their teams’ chemistry and continuity. Same thing happened to the Thunder. I believed Harden would’ve been better able to help them weather the loss of Westbrook had they kept him (of course hindsight is 20/20 and no one could’ve foreseen RW’s injury)… Luol Deng on the trading block, David West might leave as a free agent plus Granger coming back after almost a year off and he’s gonna want his touches and shots, Doc is a great coach but how is he going to use guys that can’t play D… We’ll see…

harden would definitely have helped weather the loss of westbrook. but it is doubt full they reach the finals with that team, they wouldn’t beat the heat without westbrook, that’s for sure.

if you’re gonna toss hollins only two hires made sense. Joerger and Karl. Glad to see one of them made it. Now lets see if we can get some shooters and if Joerger can get some wins.
