Toronto Raptors Reportedly Interested in Eric Bledsoe

The list of suitors for LA Clippers guard Eric Bledsoe is long, and according to ESPN, the Toronto Raptors (along with the Orlando Magic) are one of the teams with significant interest in the young guard. The talks are reportedly still at the exploratory stage: “The Raptors have been openly shopping forward Andrea Bargnani for months and would try, sources say, to include Bargnani in any deal for Bledsoe, which wouldn’t necessarily dissuade the Clippers, given their longstanding need for a big man who can stretch the floor. But sources add that Toronto guard DeMar DeRozan is the Raptor most likely to tempt the Clippers, which falls in line with L.A.’s interest in Arron Afflalo in their Bledsoe talks with Orlando. Some rival executives believe that the Raptors are prepared to part with DeRozan — recipient of a $40 million contract extension last October — in the wake of Rudy Gay’s arrival and the front-office change that ushered out Bryan Colangelo (who authorized DeRozan’s new deal) and ushered in Masai Ujiri. Magic general manager Rob Henigan acknowledged to local reporters after Thursday night’s draft that Orlando “may revisit” trying to trade for Bledsoe. The Detroit Pistons, sources said, have also expressed serious interest in Bledsoe, who is known to be seeking an extension with any new team before the Halloween deadline for his draft class if he’s indeed dealt by the Clippers this offseason. The Magic and Clippers have been discussing the possibility of a trade with Afflalo and Bledsoe as the principles for the better part of June. But those talks began before the Clippers’ drawn-out hiring of Doc Rivers as their new coach and senior vice president of basketball operations.”

Also seem to be interested in Eric Gordon. Looking forward to seeing what Ujiri does with this team.

I’m really hoping that he tears it apart and rebuilds through the draft (beginning this year). But I’m fearful that he’ll assemble a decent roster, gain a playoff spot because other teams are tanking, excite the city, win executive of the year, lose horribly in the first round, and never experience similar “success.” Like a certain predecessor of his.

Bledsoe if you leave the West Coast C’s this year I will personally fly over there and whup yo ass…

Apparently the Clippers prefer Bargnani to Derozan. Here’s hoping that the old Clippers insanity never dies.

Have they given up on Lowry? I think he only has 1 more year left on his contract, so they probably won’t re-sign him (or they’ll trade him). Lowry has All-Star ability but always seems to get hurt (or sick like in Houston) after a good stretch, then spends a few months recovering while his play suffers, plummeting his stats. Hopefully he’ll have some good luck this year.

he can’t control if he gets traded or not

Derozan would be a good fit to play the 2/3 for the Clips but it doesn’t make much sense for the Raptors to trade for Bledsoe since they have Lowry, but I believe Bledsoe is better off in Orlando where he can become a star and lead that young team and the Clips would also be getting a good deal getting a sharp shooter in Arron Afflalo, if I’m the Clips I’m trying to get Afflalo.

So if they can’t afford Bledsoe how are they supposed to pay Derozan’s 40 million deal?

Looks like he’s holding on to Rudy Gay and will build around him.

    You’re kidding, right?

Imagine if Afflalo wasn’t traded, a lineup of Bledsoe, Oladipo and Afflalo would be one of the best defensive backcourts in the league.

    …and it rhymes….bonus points!

Can’t afford to pay big $$ to a backup. If Bledsoe was a 2/3 they’d cough up the dough since Caron’s deal expires after next season.
