Chris Kaman to Sign With the Los Angeles Lakers

Who needs Dwight Howard when Chris Kaman is available? The Los Angeles Lakers confirmed that they intend to sign the free agent big fella to a mid-level exception amount of just under $3.2 million. Kaman is excited to join the lineage of Lakers centers: “Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak announced (Monday) that the team has been engaged in negotiations with free agent center Chris Kaman and intends to sign him to a contract at the conclusion of the NBA Moratorium Period.”

Pau Gasol / Chris Kaman at the same ____ time, postin’ up callin’ for it at the same ____ time, Horry Jr tryna shoot it at the same ____ time …

Guess they changed their minds about Lamar

Bad move. They should have moved Gasol to center and signed a combo forward. Especially since they already lost Earl Clark and knew they’d be letting World Peace go, so they’ll also be needing a small forward now.

or lamar is still hurt from that trade to houston/dallas/hornets (jk)

  • Ugh

Trying to see Kaman and D’Antoni working out together.

    Don’t see it.

D’Antoni is probably going to ask Kaman to play point-forward. Interesting move to say the least.

Lol. Why you bringing up old stuff?

Chris Kaman played 20mpg this year. Don’t be foolish, he’s not going to start in D’Antoni’s system

    u know this! maaaaaaaaan

but honestly though, i think lamar is still hurt from when they traded him. being in LA is important to him, but the clippers are there to. i think him going back to the lakers would be like going back to the girl that dumped you because she got tired of you and now wants u back, even though she doesn’t even like u that much now either.

The Lakers still have a void and I don’t know if they have the money to fill it adequately. I’m not sure if Kaman will start. If they shift Gasol to C, then signing Odom would have made much more sense as a combo forward/stretch 4 kind of player. Does anyone know if signing Odom is still an option, or was this an either/or signing that rules LO out? They have a glaring hole at SF, Metta was their best perimeter defender by some margin. Nash is a turnstile, and who knows what Kobe’s d will be like when he returns. They need to add an athletic SF who can defend and knock down open shots. (Bring back Trevor Ariza…)
Not as much of a pressing issue, but I also think they need a bench pg who is more of a spark plug, Blake is just a poor mans Nash. IMO, Sebastian Telfair might be worth a look, he’d be dirt cheap and fits D’antonis style.
