Kings Reportedly Won’t Match Tyreke Evans’ $44 Million Offer from Pelicans

2009-’10 NBA Rookie of the Year Tyreke Evans’ time in Sacramento could soon be coming to an end — the Sacramento Kings reportedly won’t match the four-year, $44 million offer from the New Orleans Pelicans. Per the Sac Bee: “The Kings will not match the four-year, $44 million offer sheet that Tyreke Evans has agreed to sign with the New Orleans Pelicans. According to sources close to the situation, the new Kings management group instead is hoping to close Thursday on a sign-and-trade agreement involving Pelicans point guard Greivis Vasquez and backup center Robin Lopez. [...] Team officials reportedly believe the offer is excessive and would damage the team’s long-term salary cap flexibility. They pulled their four-year, $52 million offer to free agent Andre Iguodala Tuesday when the Denver Nuggets swingman refused to make a firm commitment. Evans’ future with the Kings became less certain when the club selected Kansas shooting guard Ben McLemore last Thursday in the NBA Draft.”

Good luck with that New Orleans.

What advantage would NO gain from a sign and trade opposed to just signing him as a FA?

So potentially, they have Vasquez, Holiday, McLemore, and a Tyreke Evans that refuses to play Small Forward in the back court. I know it’s always good to have a crowded backcourt better than no backcourt at all, but this is too much.

so where will Eric Gordon get traded now?!

the off the books or off the roster advantage is developing “good relationships” with other team’s management.

in the nba u will discover like many industries that certain entities do business together time and time again.

additionally, u will discover certain teams will hardly ever do business together.

for the new NO ownership it is a good idea to create a win-win w/ SAC bc that precedent will afford them certain advantages organizations that won’t throw bones to anyone will never get.

    Milwaukee?

McLemore…as in Ben McLemore…he doesn’t play for the Pelicans. He plays for the Kings. But this is actually not that bad. Holiday can start at the PG, Vasquez will be great coming off the bench at the PG spot (although he was good enough last season to start again), trade Eric Gordon (good luck with this one. Who would take an “injury”-prone player like this and offer him a big contract for him to ride the bench), and Tyreke Evans at the SG spot. Add in Anthony Davis (Spiderman) and Ryan Anderson’s sharp-shooting and this will be a good team. Just have to figure out this SF spot.

Damn, i just tuned out and typed McLemore in for Gordon. My bad.

Too many guards. I know people talk about trading Gordon but why would any team want to trade for an injury-prone player who is set to make ~$15 mil over the next 3 seasons.

Latest News is that Evans will be signed and traded for Vasquez and Lopez.
I like this for both sides.

  • Sajjatam Tp Kulsomboon

anddddd, I also just read that they were going to sign and trade Evans for Vasquez and Lopez. So everything works out for both sides.

    Everyone loves a happy ending.

Since when is it a bad thing to have 3 good guards? Tyreke, Jrue and Eric are all interchangeable.

  • Mike Gilbert

or say eff em and keep as many assets as possible and trade with the other 28 teams

  • spit hot fiyah

why do they want to give away lopez for free? greivis i get, too many guards and his development continues he will have be paid big bucks. but why give away a 7 footer that is still relatively cheap for free?

  • spit hot fiyah

ok now they are saying it will be three team trade with lopez going to the blazers. but no one seems to know what the blazers a re giving up

  • eZ

Not gonna happen but..Indiana would be great…for Granger ofcourse.
Pelicans get an allstar who can shoot, pacers get a allstar caliber two guard with range. Both have an injury history so the risks taken balance out.

  • Matt

How in the world are they interchangeable. They each have very different playstyles.

  • spit hot fiyah

yes, but some what interchangeable since they can all handle the ball and score of the ball and are all roughly the same lenght

  • roscoe

    lol

Touché if they get Grievas out of this.

Sacramento is basically saying (without saying) do a sign and trade, or we will match the offer and trade him somewhere else later.

  • OfftheWall87

As Austin Rivers moves further down the depth chart.

  • Clos1881

Clearly Eric Gordon is on the trading block I just don’t see tyreke Evans as being a good player to build around he hasn’t improved at all.

  • Clos1881

Tyreke can’t score off the ball he can’t shoot.

  • Clos1881

    I like that trade.
