Mo Williams Meeting With the Memphis Grizzlies

According to multiple reports, veteran free agent guard Mo Williams is meeting with the Memphis Grizzlies‘ braintrust about a potential deal. Per the Commercial Appeal: “The 6-foot-1, 30-year old Williams, a former high school star at Jackson (Miss.) Murrah and in college at Alabama, has been a starter for seven of his 10 NBA seasons. He has career averages of 13.8 points and five assists, with career shooting percentages of 44 percent from the field, 38.6 percent in 3-pointers and 86.9 percent from the free throw line. [...] Various reports say that Utah (where Williams started 46 games last year averaging 12.9 points and 6.2 assists), Miami and San Antonio also are in contention for his services. Since the end of this past season, when the Grizzlies were swept by the Spurs in the Western Conference Finals, the team has concentrated on improving its backcourt. After re-signing starting guard Tony Allen to a four-year, $20 million deal, and after veteran guard Jerryd Bayless exercised an option to play the final year of his contract with the Griz, the team signed guards Nick Calathes and Josh Akognon. The Griz also signed draft choice Jamaal Franklin, a guard, to a multiyear deal. Swingman Mike Miller, the leading 3-point shooter in Grizzlies’ history, agreed to terms Saturday with the Griz after being amnestied by the Heat. He is supposed to sign his contract in a news conference at FedExForum in the next couple of days. Also last weekend, a report from CSN-NW said the Grizzlies and Knicks are interested in free agent point guard Delonte West.”
