Paul Pierce Says Goodbye to Boston (PHOTOS)

The Truth bids Beantown farewell via Instagram.

After the Boston Celtics announced the arrivals of Keith Bogans, Marshon Brooks and Kris Humphries on Monday, Danny Ainge said that Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett should receive a standing ovation upon their return to the TD Garden as members of the Brooklyn Nets. And this afternoon, Pierce’s array of Instagram posts displayed his mutual love for the Celtics fan base. Roll through the gallery above for the full 43-photo montage, which you can also see on Pierce’s IG page.

he should have been able to finish his career as a celtic

    Really classy

At 16, I just lost it at Ray Allens face and Nate Robinsons legs flailing on the floor. That celebration-fail is one of my favourite game winner moments ever! Seeing this, it is sad he can’t finish his career though. Whatever happens in Brooklyn, in the future, he’ll always be remembered as a Celtic.

man i laughed at that picture, epic fail celebration ftw

  • spit hot fiyah

all that’s missing is the slam cover from his rookie year

I understand at the end of the day, it’s a business and all that, but still kinda sucks to see players who have been with a team for a long time not get to finish out their careers there, like Hakeem Olajuwan, Patrick Ewing and now PP.

  • the_unknown

damn, before reading this comment, I had no idea that the Dream & Patrick Ewing didn’t finish their careers in Houston & New York.

emotional. no rondo in the series?

classy. and touching. whatever he does in brooklyn, the dude is a celtic for life. will always respect him and think of him as a guy not afraid to compete with anybody. people laughed in 08 when he said he was the best in the league, and that may have been a little much (i think he was being a little facetious), but don’t forget, he was coming off a playoffs where he went to toe to toe with lebron and then kobe and won.

I hope he signs a 1-day deal in Boston when he’s all done so he is able to retire as a member of the Celtics

  • BugEyes

That slow half spin crossover to the step back jumper will be missed in Boston

  • LP @ThisisEther

    he will

  • G.R.Jr.

one of the best half court players to play the game. hate to see him go, but he will continue to be an ambassador of the game in brooklyn

  • Otis

Huh I had no idea that Hakeem played a season in Toronto. How bizarre.

  • bike

One of the greatest pure scorers the game has ever seen. The first Nets/Celtics matchup in Boston will be must see TV for sure.

  • Lloyd

Damn that 08′ squad was just so damn lovable.

Agreed even as a Laker fan I wasn’t all that pissed off that we lost to them.

  • Peter Walsh

Seeing Pierce in a Brooklyn jersey is going to be really wack.

  • lights out

for sure. ’10 was just as lovable to me. after a lousy second half of the regular season, they absolutely dominated the playoffs, straight up embarrassing cleveland and orlando. and those finals. big baby and nate jumping and drooling all over each other, ray/tony allen d’ing up kobe, rondo still being kind of in the coming out party phase of his career… sigh.

  • BCoops

    What ever happened to Posey?!

  • Lloyd

Haha he went to New Orleans right after the C’s won that chip and then was traded to Indiana. He got dropped by them and I’m not really sure where he ended up.

  • Lloyd

What a ragtag squad that was. Loved them too. They always looked like they were having the best time. For example…

Hearing that last line just brought a tear to my eye…

  • Evan Boland

    Loved them, too. Loved ‘em.

Can I get a shot over the SLAM CHINA 100th issue covers? All 4?

  • BCoops

    Literally cried laughing at this!!

  • ClydeSays

Nuts. Besides being the C’s most consistent player for so long, he did so much work with the community, not just in the city but all over the state. Thank you, PP!

I think there were six but we couldn’t show them all for a few reasons I can’t get into…here was what we posted on IG: http://instagram.com/p/WuReWrsWEf/
